I am re-building my crochet skills after years of neglect and have found that the styles and techniques have changed, which is a good thing. Does anyone else here crochet or knit? |

I like crocheting, but I am not very sophisticated. I know a couple of basic patterns that I keep using, with slight variations. When it comes to learning new ones, I absolutely need someone to show me. I don't understand written instructions.

When I was pregnant with my first child, 20 yrs ago, I learned how to crochet and knit. I made those dishcloths and the towels that hang over the stove. I also crocheted my husband an afgan for Christmas one year. Once the baby was born, no time to continue. I should get my stuff out and start again too. |

DianaR, I crochet quite a lot. Every newborn baby gets a layette set. I also like to do afghans and doilies. Actually I really enjoy doing complex doilies. Just remember that no matter how complicated the patterns or stitches look, crochet is nothing more than pulling loops through other loops!

Where I currently live, Spain, all the old ladies sit outside their houses dining chairs, at nightime and chatter away, each of them creating the most intricate and delicate crochet "thingys" I have seen (I call them that coz they could be anything, curtains, tablecloths, layettes, doylies.) They dont seem to need to look at them, they talk to their hearts content and their fingers just seem to know what they are doing. Absolutely fascinating!

I hadn't crocheted in a long time, but was determined to make each of my grandkids their own special birthday gift this year. I made a couple of sweaters for our grandson who is a year old and a neat-o retro 70's vest for our 14 year old granddaughter. I'm making ponchos for the other two granddaughters who are turning nine this year. I'm glad I remembered how to do it even!! I used to do the doilies and such with thread, but man...that was a while ago and my eyes aren't what they used to be.

Crocheting is one of my hobbies and I enjoy making afghans and shawls. I made a dress once, and would like to make one again. If I could just find the time to finish the purple skirt I started a month ago...

During college days I love to knit. My mom inspired me to knit some useful stuffs. Since she's so good at it she always knit me a shoulder bag colored pink cuz it's my favorite.

My mom taught me to knit and crochet as a young child. I took it up again just a few years ago and realized I had not forgotten how! Knitting is my favorite and I've done quite a few projects, mostly as gifts. Favorite of all my gifts? The easiest! Dishcloths!
