Scientists are searching a way to detect disease outbreaks in virtual world and help the real world doctors to combat at earlier stages. This is done with the help of Healthmap which would provide information related to the disease outbreaks in the real world. This website would cull through news websites, public health list serves, the WHO, and other web sites. This Healthmap gathers information from the internet and filter the useful material. It then jots out incidents of various outbreaks earlier. It also provides accurate information related to the validity of the report. It has been proved to be quiet accurate with the results and informing the outbreak of the disease in advance.

(I do worry about overpopulation though, because the more cures we have, the more people, the more food eaten, the more oxygen used etc)

I can't understand how this program will work! How can it detect the outbreak in advance? If there are incidents of a particular disease affecting several victims in a locality, perhaps they will come to know there is an outbreak. But detecting in asdvance ..... it just beats me !

I think a technology like this will be most beneficial for third world countries, and yet, I'm sure that it will be so expensive that they can't afford it. That's where this technology will be able to do the most good.
