Default Tips on Vegetarianism & Longevity

This is the most controversial topic on longevity. Various meat products are known to be the favorites in the menu. About 35% of the world’s population consumes meat in one form or another. There are a number of studies in and against consumption of meat.

Do you know?

The “Spiderman” Tobey McGuire is a known vegetarian. The list includes legendary Paul McCartney, Pamela Anderson, Alicia Silverstone and Michael Stipe.

German Cancer Research center observed a control group of 1904 subjects were for 21 years. According to the results, vegetarianism reduced mortality rate by 50% (for men). For women, it is 30%.

Vegetarians & aging

Food pattern denotes the culture and climate of a country. We choose the food that we find. High fat, high cholesterol content in food is not encouraged. They lead to Blood pressure, atherosclerosis and cancer. They are known to increase your weight.

Vegetarians have the advantage of avoiding this high fat content. Vegetarian food contains antioxidants in abundance. Antioxidants effectively control free radicals. Intake of antioxidants provides body with sufficient nutrients. These nutrients are use to nullify the effect of free radicals.

Antioxidants are used as anti aging supplements. It provides raw materials to repair the body. To ensure the availability of antioxidants, you should focus on consuming a variety of leaf and vegetables. Sticking to a particular group of plants won’t help. Apart from vegetables, include various leaves in your diet.

A true vegetarian

Avoiding meat will not make you a vegetarian. Vegetables should not be prepared in oils with high fat content. It supplements the fat. Use oils with healthy fat content. Cheese pizzas and ice creams will not help you in improving the life span. Avoid products made of cheese and cream.

Vegetarian food gives you low calorie content. They can control obesity.
Being overweight is not advantageous for a higher life span. Try to avoid the use of butter.

Meat is rich in proteins. A restricted intake of meat will help you achieve longevity.

A vegetarian diet helps to control the Body Mass Index (BMI). A BMI less than 20 will give a higher life expectancy.

In simple words, a healthy vegetarian diet contains lower fat content and presence of antioxidant (which prevents aging). It helps in achieving a lower weight.

Vegetarians who avoid junk food are known to have a lower risk of heart disease. Heart diseases are caused by the hardening of arteries. This in turn increases the blood pressure. Vegetarian diet can give a healthier artery.

Maybe that figure isn't correct, but I do believe that there are more vegetarians in the world than we think. Remember that meat is more expensive than fruits and vegetables, so many people probably do not eat them. For some people, like in India, eating a certain meat is against their religious beliefs, so they have a vegetarian diet.

I think your method of classification is a bit suspect.

A person cannot be lumped into the vegetarian list
just because he has no money to buy meat.

I think a vegetarian is someone who conciously avoids
meat products even if has a choice to consume it.
