Try this remedy It works 100% of the time although the scientists at the Canada Research council (who discovered it) aren't sure why. To stop nighttime coughing in a child (or adult as we found out personally), put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly. It was a surprising finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly. An adult friend tried it on herself when she had a very deep constant and persistent cough a few weeks ago and it worked 100%! She said that it felt like a warm blanket had enveloped her, coughing stopped in a few minutes and believe me, this was a deep, (incredibly annoying!) every few seconds uncontrollable cough, and she slept cough-free for hours every night that she used it. So, if you have kids/grandchildren, pass it on. If you end up sick, try yourself and you will be absolutely amazed. |

I love the smell of this vaporub. It really clears up my nostrils especially when I have clogged nose. Some says too much of it results to addiction. But still this is very useful.

I got that same tip on an email before. It sounded good so I recommended it to a friend who had a bad cold. She tried it but said it didn't help her. Just wondering. Has anyone tried it and what were the results?

I have tried using it when my daughters were both coughing and it didn't do anything. It clears up your throat a little, but it doesn't stop the coughing. Besides, if you have a cold or a flu, the virus has to exit your body first and the smell of eucalyptus is not what makes it go away.

I think it's just a temporary remedy especially for clogged nose and common colds. It does really nothing but to clear air passageways. I only use this when I'm having a clogged nose especially before going to bed.

I'm so glad that someone here loves the smell of vaporub because I do, too! Isn't it a wonderful smell? For me, vaporub is like my "cure all" for lots of little problems that can be easily solved.

I believe in Vicks. I just rubbed it all over my kids when they were small and it worked. I don't go to a doctor when I have flu. As long as I have Vicks, Panado and some Natura drops I'm fine. I take my kids when they are really sick. I won't take a change with them.

when I was a kid, my mom would put vicks on the bottoms of my feet and put socks on me. I have done this with my kids, just because that's what you do when you have a bad cough or cold. Works for us. I did read about a study once where they rubbed garlic on the bottoms of people's feet and within minute, they could taste the garlic. seemed odd to me, but they said it is because the feet absorb something, i don't remember exactly. It was interesting though. Wish I had a link to it. |

I read this tip on the internet and used it for my son who had a bout of coughing last month. It worked for him and for me too when I had cough last week. Just don't forget to put on the socks after you have rubbed the vicks vaporub on the soles of your feet. And don't forget to take in cough medicines.

I love the smell of vicks vaporub too. When I was a child, I was fond of putting them near my nose to relieve me of nasal congestion. And also I learned from my teacher that it soothes the itch of insect bites...and it works!
