Default Stress Management

Stress is one thing that we can't avoid in our life. Changing the situation (avoid and alter the stressor) and changing my reaction ( adapt and accept the stressor), is what I usually do to cope with stress. How about you, how do you reduce, cope, and prevent your stress?

I try to avoid / prevent stress, but sometimes it is out of our hands - things happen, unexpectedly, and we don't know how to help the situation, which causes stress. In cush cases I try to take it one thing at a time, do what I can and not worry too much about what I have no control over.

When I'm stressed usually I do something that would make me forget that I'm stressed. Like watching comedy shows, play video games and etc.

My alternative healer used to say that indeed stress is part and parcel of life. To live successfully, one needs to handle stress without distress. Isn't that right?

I agree with those yoga and meditation things. Stress can cause (or be caused by) the imbalance of our glandular secretions. Certain yoga postures treat (massage, press and strain) the glands and hence activate and make it working properly.

If I feel stress with my work I would go out and hang out with friends to lessen my stress and pressure. It is bad to be stressed for me because I had my gastritis as a result of stress.

To think positive would somehow help you cope up with stress. I don't know if we could prevent it but I guess, when you plan your work, it could lessen the stress. Is it true that there are different kinds of stress?

I agree, sometimes if I feel like I'm going to go boom nap is the best cure for me. I try to avoid getting stressed because I become so short tempered when that happens.

I workout... its the only thing that makes me feel better.

Not only working out in the gym.... but going for long walks, just me and the dog helps to clear my head.... sometimes i just have to get away and put my energy into something other than whats stressing me out.

When I'm stressed I will go for a walk, talk to those around me and ask for advice, or just went, read, write, take a nap.. dance, sing. I think singing is an amazing way to let your emotions out. Sometimes, you just gotta listen to that song that brings tears to your eyes and let it all out. Funny how it makes everything seem better!

Although I try to avoid stressful events, it is really inevitable! What I do is to relax, eat chocolate and deep breathing. Relaxing is always a great way of relieving stress. According to some studies, chocolate contains "happy hormones" that make up happy! And deep breathing releases too much heavy emotions

I consider myself both a workaholic and a laid back person. I know those seem like complete opposites, but it helps me. Sometimes I'm very focused on work, and other days, I can't be very productive. You just have to find a healthy balance. My results-driven self is balanced with my laid back self.

I could see that everybody has their own way in coping up with their stressful days. Does your kids help you relax or they stresses you more? My sister doesn't like to see her kids whenever she is tired but I feel different. Any experiences like this one?

How many kids does she have? I think it's normal when mothers are irritated with their them sometimes. They must be really tired and I think they don't want to be disturb. I don't have kids yet and I don't find them irritating. I hope my opinion would not change when they come.

It's important to get rid of stress. Stress is bad for your health. I relieve my stress by many things. I walk, exercise, read a good book, take a hot bath, visit with friends and laugh. Laughter is a cheap easy way to relieve stress.
