Default Overweight Flyers

Do you think a person who is overweight should have to pay for two seats on a plane? I think it's a tricky situation, I mean, what if the person has a medical problem and literally can't lose weight. I do see why the idea has come about though, because if they're taking up two seats, they're hurting the business..

Plane should have bigger seats, so overweight passengers can be settled comfortably. It is a human rights violation to prohibit someone getting on a plane who is overweight.

I think it is a tricky situation too. On one hand, if they don't charge for the two seats, they are loosing money if the person needs the two seats.
On the other hand, I don't think it is fair that the person should have to pay for two seats just because he is overweight.

I like the idea of them offering bigger seats for bigger passengers. They should have these available in every airplane, at an additional cost for everyone to purchase.

That's what I've been thinking also, a lot of overweight passengers here who takes the bus, jeeps and other for hire vehicles but no one has ever thought about them paying twice since they occupy much space. I remember we used to tell this to my younger sister so that she will be discouraged to get fat.

I am completely agreeing with you that it is a cunning trick of the business. I think that for example almost in all planes that I had ever used, the seats were very tight and uncomfortable. I am admiting that I have some overweight but it is not so big.

I see where you're coming from and that's a very nice idea and all, but we also must think about the airlines. They're going to have to pay to make these bigger seats. How will they pay for it? Probably increase ticket prices? This would upset many fliers and they may lose some business

If they are charging double for the overweight passengers then they should also charge half for underweight people..

That's a good point. I wonder how they would handle prices. Can you imagine being the person who has to make these kinds of decisions! OMG! I dunno how I would handle it.

I disagree, and it is not all about their business either. Airline companies have to consider the security of all the travelers that get on board. If a person is overweight, I certainly would like them to occupy two seats instead of cramming themselves into a single one.
