I have always thought about getting my tubes ties, because I don't see myself ever wanting kids. However, I don't want to change my body and I don't want to go through menopause at a young age. What exactly happens to your body when you make such a change? My bf has also been talking about getting "fixed", because then we won't have to worry about unwanted pregnancy. I personally think that's a HUGE choice of his, and what if we change our minds when we get older? What if we don't stay together? What happens to guys physically and mentally when they get "fixed"?

I know a couple, the guy got "fixed" after they had two kids, and they were doing fine. Then they had come to realization that it was wrong, and decided to reverse the procedure. It is expensive, but it can be done. They did it, and the wife had gotten pregnant.

Tube ties can be remove anytime you want. If you're not yet ready to conceive a child, then it is one of the solution. For guys, some have tried to get fixed after having children. But for guys without child, I don't think its needed. You can just use contraceptives. |

I don’t want to have kids but I disagree with getting my surgery done so early in life. I don’t want to miss out on the "fun" of giving birth just in case the motherly hormonal change occurs in me. :P Besides fertility treatments cost a lot & I don’t want to stress myself by undergoing unnecessary treatments. |

Tube ties- $1000 Fertility treatments - $3000 -$10000 Wal-Mart value Condoms pack- $16.88 I enjoyed giving birth to my kid & it’s a life changing experience. Although I have few friends who are in their early 40's still unwilling to have kids. |

Permanent sterilization is a huge decision. A lot of people don't start wanting kids until they are in their 30s and even for some of them it is too late to have their own children naturally because they waited too long. Be very very very careful about this decision. There is nothing wrong with not wanting children, there is nothing wrong with choosing not to have children.. but what you want when you are 21 and what you want when you are 31 can be very very different. As for the psychological effects on the male. Most men who opt for getting fixed don't experience any effects because they are doing it voluntarily and understand that it does not make the "less of a man". The men who would be bothered by shooting blanks generally don't go for this surgery. |
