Diabetes - Diabetics should eat a high fibre diet consisting of a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, whole cereals and legumes.

- Fibre prevents the excessive rise in blood glucose after meals, which results in lower drug or insulin requirement.
 - Fibre gives a feeling of fullness and reduces the intake of carbohydrates and calories. This helps the obese diabetic to lose weight.
