Default A pill and get rid of cold

Many Scientists all over the world have been doing research to get fast effective ways to get rid of common cold. An International Team in London has managed to develop a medicine which is claimed to be effective for the most of the colds that children get and half of it that adults suffer from. This BTA798 pill can be used to clear the sniffles for healthy ones and it can prevent the infections that are common in cystic fibrosis and asthma patients. This drug prevents the virus causing cold break through the body cell and cause infection. It further stops the infection to spread. During lab tests bulk quantity of cold virus were killed within few hours. If the trial on volunteers from the British is successful, this cold preventing drug would be in the market in coming five years.

It certainly sounds interesting; however, I wonder what kind of an impact this would have on our immune system. Our body is able to produce antibodies for everything and the common is not an exception. I personally wouldn't want to introduce an additional chemical into my body for a cold.

That sounds amazing! I, however am not much of a "medicine taker." I tend to see if my body can take care of things before I take anything to fix what's going on. Weird I know, but I saw my mom always taking pills for everything and I noticed she was sick a lot. I never want my body to become weaker/dependent on help from drugs.

I would try the pill after a few years, seeing first how it affects others, and I wouldn't use it that often

I don't consider myself a medicine taker, either, and the common cold is something too commonly occurring for me to take a pill for, in my opinion. Colds can mutate easily, and there are several viruses that cause colds, so how can they keep up with the cold every time? Will they continue to make pills for each mutation?

This is the battle that science is constantly fighting. I remember learning about it in High School and I was glad that I wasn't into taking pills for every little ache and pain. I think it's hard for people to look at the full picture, and how it will affect others in the future.

I don't take pills when I have a cold. I believe that we should be able to fight minor pains and illnesses off ourselves. We are inbuilt with an immune system and we need to let it work for us, rather than relying on medications all the time.

I feel like pursuing this would be a waste of time, effort, and money. Colds help make our immune systems better. Instead, scientists should concentrate on curing things that have been fatal, things that the body cannot cure on its own.
