Default Heart Burn

If you face the problem of heartburn then first and foremost check your diet. Try and avoid chocolates, caffeine, citrus fruits and dairy products. Get your medicines examined if you’re on medication as some painkillers that may contribute to heartburn. Also try and quit smoking it disturbs your digestive system leads to heartburn. Alcohol also causes heartburn. Get into exercising or walking everyday. This will help you to lose weight and kill your stress. Stress is a root cause of many problems and can make and problem worse so it has to be dealt with immediately. Never lie down after eating your food and when ever you lie down try and elevate the upper portion of your body by putting an extra pillow under your head and shoulders.

I don't get heartburn that often but you bring up a good point.. the only time I really do is when I'm not eating right or just overeating in general. Definitely not a good feeling!!

My husband gets heartburn at times, and that's when he eats too much spicy food, although he does love it bu still has to eat the food.

If you really want to avoid having heartburn, it seems to me like you can't have anything enjoyable at all. A lot of the things listed to give up for heartburn are still good for you like chocolate (in moderation), fruits, and dairy products. I don't want to avoid getting heartburn if that means I'll have a more serious condition later.

I agree with you Hirami. I mean, my gma gets heartburn every time she eats something that she really, really enjoys. I can't even imagine!! I'm not a very healthy eater

I think I would very much prefer to take medicine for heartburn than give up all the foods that I love. Everything that we eat has some kind of nutritional value, doesn't it? Don't give that up, too!
