Default Sleep Paralysis

Has anyone else experienced sleep paralysis? It's that feeling that someone's sitting on your chest or holding you down. My hallucinations get pretty strange from time to time. I thought that someone was trying to strangle me with telephone cord. Are there any other strange hallucinations?

Exactly, i have experienced the same many a times, we'll be awake at that time but can't move or do anything, our chest will be very heavy, this especially happens when we sleep in our back or supine position, elders say that we should sleep in lateral position or side way to avoid this, this usually happens when we are thirsty itseems, so we have to drink enough of water before going to bed.

I've never experienced this myself, but I have heard a lot of people talk about it. I have a feeling it ties in with anxiety, but I'm not sure. Anyways, there's a site that I am a member of, it's another forum and there are sooooo many cases like this. Have you talked to a doctor or anything? Sounds pretty serious to me. Sorry, I wish I had more info for ya!!

I haven't experienced any incidents like that when I sleep. I don't think it's normal. Have you consulted a doctor? It's quite alarming. It would be best if you would see for a specialist.

It sounds quite serious and I believe you should consult a doctor. I have heard of cases similar to yours and apparently this is linked to anxiety. My husband is bipolar and he experiences panic attacks during his sleep sometimes and mostly has nightmares as well. I know that it is very taxing on the body, as he is always exhausted even when he sleeps for more than eight hours a day.

I've had it happen to me, but I don't think there's any reason to be alarmed. There are a lot of causes for sleep paralysis, some of which are pretty tame like stress and an irregular sleep schedule. I know I get sleep paralysis because of the way that I sleep which is on my back, but I have to sleep that way. My back used to hurt from time to time, and sleeping this way is the only way that helps.
