Default Cooling Foods

I'm in a very very hot country at the moment, and was wondering if anyone had any ideas about healthy cooling things to munch on??

Watermelon is a good fruit to munch on and best when eaten in hot weather conditions, you can also have salads which can include sprouts, chicken or anything else of your choice.

Banana is also said to be 'cooling' and is a good energy booster. If you take salads, it is better to yoghurt(this is said to be cooling as well).

Watermellon was the first thing that came to my mind, it is soooo good on a hot summer day when you take it right out of the fridge. I also like oranges, they have this pleasant cooling effect. I keep them in the fridge as well. Almost any fruit is good - grapes, cherries. A friend of mine puts grapes in the freezer, which makes them frozen solid, and then crunches on those.

I am not sure if you mean Pakistan when you say very hot country
in which case my suggestion won't work out.

Pork is a very cooling food item.

Chicken on the other hand is a heating food, so is papaya and mango.

You might like to have some watermelon slices and a cup of yogurt to dip the fruit into. This combination of food is best eaten when they are both coming from your fridge. Ideal to eat while it's cold.

wetermelon is always nice and refreshing to eat but
I am not sure if Ayesha meant foods that were cool and refreshing
to eat, I think she meant foods that cool the body internally.

Jicama or Mexican turnip is a refreshing food too.

It may not look good on the outside. But trust me you would be a lifelong fan once you get a taste of it. It's sweet and crunchy and could be eaten as is or cooked into a main dish or turned into a salad. I prefer to eat as is dipped in salt.

What about a nice cold popcicle? You can make these out of any juice that you have. Just fill an ice cube tray with juice and add tooth picks or sticks for the handle. They are very cool and refreshing.

You could try having a cold soup. Have you ever heard of gazpacho? It's typically served cold. Other cool foods can be anything that has a lot of water in it.

Cucumbers and water melons are great cooling foods - you can also try citrus but that usually leads you to be thirsty afterwords, so it kinda defeats the purpose. But the first two mentioned are always a sure way to cool yourself off from the scorching heat.

yeah the major vote goes to watermelon, you may also try pineapples, it has a better taste or tomatoes which is juicy and has a lycopene component.
