Smile Beetroot

Beetroot
Beets contain betaine, which is good for the blood, liver & intestines. Betaine protects the liver & helps in fat metabolism. It helps in reducing the levels of homocysteine in the body, which is an independent risk factor for heart disease. It is being postulated that high homocysteine levels in the blood are a greater risk factor for heart problems than cholesterol.

Yes, beets are very good for you - and they can be yummy, too, if you know how to cook them. Our family loves this beet salad: boil the beets, carefully peel them after they cool off, and grate them (it will be messy because of the juice). Then add some salt, garlic powder or crushed fresh garlic, and dress with mayo. Done!

I started eating beetroot 9 years ago. I got a craving for it when i was pregnant and I still love it today.

Did you know that you can actually overdose on beetroot? I think you have to eat a lot of it, but you can end up in hospital.

No, I did not know that... I guess we are out of danger though, we don't eat beets all the time, only once in a while.

Another thing I like making is pickled veggie mix - cabbage, carrots, and beets. Because of beets, everything ends up colored purple! It looks rather unusual and tastes great.

I think that for those who wants to lose some useless body fat, beetroot is a very necessary product. I prefer to consume the juice of the beetroot. But one should consume this juice with care. It should be mixed with other juices. I prefer to mix it with the apple juice.

I do not like beets plain, but you can buy beetroot powder to take as an herbal supplement. Beets are also sometimes used as natural color in fruit juice blands because of their bright red color. Also, did you know that if you eat a lot of beet root, it can turn your urine red and your breast milk pink? It's a harmless effect, but kind of strange!
