Default Vegetable Straws

I'm a very pickly eater, and I don't always eat my vegetables. I went to Costco one day and tried this product called Vegetable Straws. They're really good, low in sodium, and have real vegetables in them. It's almost like you're eating french fries. Has anyone tried them?

I know what you are talking about, my daughter loves them.

I don't think you are going to get your daily vegetable quota
by eating those straws, I think they are basically made of flour and
potatoes and a bit of vegetable juice added for flavoring and color.

I have never heard of those but I am not quite sure that they would be as nutritious as the real fruits or vegetables. It is best to eat vegetables in their natural form in order to keep all the vitamins intact, also make sure that it is not just the vegetable flavor that these straws contain. Otherwise, you are not really helping yourself by eating things that are chemically produced.

I have never heard of them before either. Are they the consistancy of a chip? I think that these sound like a great treat for kids who aren't fond of their veggies.

There's not much 'veggies' in them ;-) just clever marketing.

Ingredients
Potato Flour, Potato Starch, Vegetable Oil (Sunflower, Safflower or Canola Oil), Wheat Starch, Tomato Puree, Spinach Powder, Salt, Sugar, Turmeric.

Seems like from the ingredients, that there is more vegetable flavoring than vegetables in them. It's like veggie flavored french fries. Can't imagine you really get that many vegetables for those ingredients.

I think it's a great start toward getting kids to eat vegetables. It's hard to eat your vegetables if you just start right away. Maybe if you sort of work your up to real vegetables, then you'll like them more. I've tried other things that have vegetable ingredients.

Yeah, looks like that "veggie" is just the brand, and has nothing to do with its ingredients. It's like bear brand milk. I cannot figure how the get milk from the bears LOL.

That's too bad that there really wasn't much of a vegetable content in those vegetable straws. At least they tasted good. It had me thinking that I could eat vegetables. Has anyone seen any other vegetable alternatives?

Which one would you prefer, the french fries or the vegetable straw? Actually, I haven't heard or even seen that product yet. Although the ingredients are not that healthy, when I look at the photo, it seems that it taste good.

It's like vegetable flavored chips (but in straws). It can be a good alternative to ice creams and chocolates.

I don't think they'll ever be able to take the place of ice cream and chocolate for me, but they do taste pretty good. If I were given the choice, I would definitely choose french fries. (It's been such a long time since I've had any!) Still, vegetable straws do have that low sodium thing going for them. That's always a plus in my book!

Bummer.. if it's true they don't have much veggies in em I think it would be a really neat way to get kids to eat their veggies. That would be really cute. Someone should make em. I nominate Farce
