Default Spiral Perm

When I get a perm done, I always go for spiral - I think it is better for longer hair than regular perm. I tell the hairdresser to do my bangs spiral as well, so that the overall look is consistent. Has anyone else done spiral perm? Do you like it?

Ive had a spiral perm done once, and although I have not had the regular perm done, I saw no difference in the two. Spiral perm is suitable for long hair because it keeps the curls locked and doesn't make the long hair look odd.

Overall spiral perm does look good, and it is costlier than the regular perm but only worth it if you have long hair, if you have short hair there is no point in getting the spiral perm.

I had a perm like this back in the 90's and I loved it, I notice that it's coming back in with the 80's clothes. I love this hairstyle on long hair, it always looks so classy.

Much appreciated if you have a long hair, it makes you look sexy! Have tried once and i love it. Now, my hair goes back to my natural type of hair. It also adds volume on your hair.

Never heard of a spiral perm before. Well, if it adds volume to hair, the, I may try that one day. My hair is long and fine.

My hair is long and fine as well, and having a perm done does add volume. Regular perm does not look so natural though, and the curl tends to go away sooner.

I have been seriously considering getting a spiral perm on my hair. My hair is light brown almost blonde, a little past my shoulders, pretty straight and not thick but not thin either. I am going to wait until the end of the summer, so that my hair will be longer.

I love curly hair and I am really wanting a change, I think that it will look good I'm just wonderng what others are thinking.

Have you had any good, or bad perm experiences recently?
Please let me know!
Thanks!

It has been years since I have had a perm.

I love the look of a spiral perm also. Especially when you have long hair. It is more than just adding body to the hair.

I can't remember that long ago if I ever did get a spiral perm.

I agree that you should get the bangs permed the same way as the rest of you hair.

After you perm your you are supposed to wait at least 1 month after to perm again. During that month, use a really good deep conditioner and get your hair trimmed. A couple of great conditioners are, Biolage Conditioning balm and redkins Deep conditioner. Go to Great clips (they are usually pretty cheap) and ask the stylist.

I had a spiral perm done after our son was born and that was almost 22 years ago. It took about six hours just for the ladies to roll it up and I really did love how it turned out! It was really HEAVY when the rods were in. I hear it's a style that's coming back, but I don't think I'll go there again. I do enough hair punishment as it is!

My hair is so straight, fine, and I have so much of it. The only perm that took and looked nice was a spiral perm. I loved the look of the curls. It's been years--- and I mean years since I had a perm. I was thinking of getting one to just add body to my hair. It's a lot shorter now than it was when I got perms before.

My daughter has naturally curly hair and I have bone straight!

Well, I did a spiral perm about a month ago, and I love it - very nice, natural curls.

I did have a bad experience back when I was 18-19, I went for a regular perm, and the stylist had burned my hair. My hair is very fine, so it needs to be treated gently. I actually had several strands of hair fall off. It did not look as bad as it sounds, LOL, but it taught me a lesson. I now always tell the hairstylists that I want a "light perm" because my hair is so fine.

Default Spiral Perm

hi,
A spiral perm is a type of permanent wave. The look of a spiral perm can vary, depending on the width of the perming rods used, the skill of the hairstylist, the hair of the customer, and the chemicals used to set the permanent wave. The look of the spiral perm is intimately associated with fashion from the 1980s, when the high-volume look of this style was very popular. It is important to remember that a spiral perm is more of a technique than a specific look, and if you are considering a perm, you should talk about the look you want very specifically.
This technique uses long perm rods, rather than rollers. It is ideal for clients with longer hair, since the rods can accommodate the full length of the hair. The hair is treated with chemicals to relax it and then wrapped around the perm rods, starting at the ends and working up to the scalp. The rods are left in for a set period of time, and then a neutralizer is applied to set the curls.
