Default Over 30 how long ?

How long should a woman have her hair when she is over 30 ? I still think in your 30's women can get away with many styles but I wonder should we have it short rather than long ? is long hair more suited to women in their 20's ?

Mommy, I really think that you should go with what makes you feel good. I still have long hair and I am nearly 40. There is no gray in my hair and I keep it highlighted. I also have an extremely youthful face. When I feel that my face starts to look older, I will definitely go with shorter hair as I think that shorter hair makes your face look less droopy!

I agree, here should be no "social norms," so to speak, telling you what hair style you should have at a certain age. Wear the hair that suits you and makes you comfortable, be it long, medium, or short.

I agree with you that one should keep hair according to what makes you feel good. By the way, what is your secret to a youthful look?Care to share?

I have heard that shorter hair makes you look younger. That is why most moms over 40 tend to start wearing their hair shorter then they did when they were younger.

I go back and forth on it. If I grow it out, it is usually in a ponytail and then I decided I would rather be stylish than just wearing a ponytail.

I'm with Antk on this one. Shorter hair tends to make me look younger. It also feels better on me.

How long your hair should be depends on the shape of your face. You can have long hair and be 50. If you have a long skinny face- short hair makes it look longer.

I was actually thinking about this the other day, when are we to old to have long hair. The fact is you should be able to have whatever length you like.

My aunt is 64 and has beautiful long, naturally curly hair, while I at 31 have short hair that almost touches my shoulders.

It depends on how you like your hair, on the volume of your hair at that age, there are many other factors too like how you manage it and how you keep you hair e.g keep it opened or tied.

thanks for the replies, I was looking back at photos and saw me with short hair ad thought I looked sort of stern looking, it was a stylish hairstyle but then when I looked at recent photos with my hair a good bit longer I looked so much better with a casual style but having it long it gets tied back alot more. I wondered if people looked at me and thought I was trying to look younger than I am

I have a round face, so long hair looks good on me. I once wanted to cut it short and get a perm done, and my husband said that he would not want me to have "the old ladies' hairdo" - yes, that's how he referred to it, LOL!

LOL sounds like something my husband would say, he hates perms and even though they can be so fashionable and natural looking he just sees them as he calls them 'Granny curls' LOL

My mom do also have a short hair and yeah she is comfortable with it. I myself if i reach the age like 30 up i still go for long hair because i don't look good when my hair is short.

I think it's just a matter of personal choice. I'm almost 50 and my hair is just past my shoulders. I've had it cut really short before when I was much younger. I think it's what you like the best and there shouldn't be rules on how long a woman's hair should be at any particular age.

I think by the age of 30, most women pretty much know what works best for them - what hairstyle, leigth, color, and so on. Of course, you can still experiment, but most ladies I see around who are 30+ tend to go with something that they have found to be the best for them.

Default Over 30 how long ?

I think its your wish to keep it long or short... But if it is short you look young and its easy to maintain the short hairs and there are different hair styles for short hairs....

For me it depends on your time and status. If you are a career woman at your 30's it's advisable to have a short hair for easy styling but if you have lot's of time to pamper yourself then long hair is suitable for you.

I feel it depends from individual to individual to have short or long hairs. Age is not the criteria to keep long or short hair its the personality of the individual that what suits him best.

I don't believe age has anything to do with how long your hair should be. You can go with the length and style you want regardless of your age, as long as you see that it suits you. Age is a state of mind and not really what everybody else perceives.

Yeah it depends on your own preferrence. If you think long hair will suit you then go ahead. My MIL is already 50 and she has a very long hair.

According to me.... as long as a women have hair, she can have her own style and after 50 or 60 her hair will turn gray and even then styles are possible but she cant try all the styles, there will be some limitations due to hair loss.

I think anything can work. If you like it, that's all that matters. I knew many women in their 60s even who had REALLY long hair.. and I thought it looked really cool

I think after 30 women can reduce the hair length.. till 30 she may attend much college parties.. etc.. and she may need a long hair to make different style.. but by 30, she will be most busy with her kids and stay at home for long time.. so short hair will be better.
