Default Nioxin for hair loss?

This is the one of the latest product(Nioxin) on the market. I went for a hair trim and I was advised to buy these products. I have not bought them as yet. Has anyone heard of them? Are they really effective to combat hair loss? I was told that your previous hair will grow back after using these products. Anyone heard or tried it? Does it work?

My hair is thin on top. I used Selsun shampoo to combat a skin infection which spread to my scalp(not anything serious just cosmetic infection due to bathing immediately after sweating)...

Nioxin was forced by the FDA ot the BBB...I can't remember which, to stop making claims that it encourages hair growth.

Nioxin has eucalyptus, or something very similar, that creates a tingling sensation in the scalp but does nothing to encourage hair growth...It's all smoke and mirrors.

It's usually best to avoid buying product at your salon. The salon is making money from the sale and most of what is offered there is no different than what you can get at your local retailer.

well, my aunty uses Nioxin shampoo and conditioner-grooming aid formula, ics intelligent series; hair cream...her scalp used to be sort of bald(really bald!) but her hair is so much thicker after using Nioxin...

Anyone else who found it really useful?

Nioxin? it sounds very new, i did not hear it also, But from the word nioxin. I can make sure that it is made up of chemicals, may be it will be good for cleansing and hair wash. But there may be problems to hair growth and may result in hair fall also.

Hmm..I'm really not sure. I mean, I try to avoid buyingt items from the salon because they're overpriced. I would look more into it. Check it out online or something maybe?

I think the tingling sensation that people felt was maybe the scalp getting more air. That feeling is very common with products that have menthol in them like vapor rub and Icy Hot. Getting air to the scalp probably doesn't have any effect on hair growth. If anything, it's just a placebo effect.
