Default Fresh Coconut Oil

I have this long-standing fact about having fresh coconut oil onto your hair and scalp. This one has done so many good things about my hair. Have you tried using it?

I have never tried it... I love the smell of coconut, so the idea sounds inticing. Is it very oily? How easy is it to wash out of the hair afterwards?

Fresh coconut oil is good for the hair and scalp. But, it does not seem to suit me. It is too cooling for my head...I tend to fall sick.

Fresh coconut oil is really good for the hair and scalp. I have tried it twice. Massage the oil onto your scalp and hair. Leave it for around 10 minutes then rinse. It can be a little bit oily but it leaves your hair smooth and shiny.

I tried this one too! my mom introduce me this tip to have my hair healthy. I blanch the coconut oil just for it to boil a little and i get a cotton wet it with the oil and massage it in the scalp so that it really absorbs way to the roots of your hair, cover it with shower cap, leave for 15 mins and rinse. It treats dry hair and my lessen dandruff.

Wow. I am surprised everyone is talking about coconut oil like
it is a new found elixir. When I was young my Mom would slap
half a cup of coconut oil on my head and send me off to college ;-)

Yea, I'm surprised too !! Its impossible for me to do without coconut oil. And ofcourse its beneficial in keeping your head cool. Dunno about the scalp issue though.Once you become used to it, it becomes difficult to do without it.

Be sure you are using raw coconut oil, and not the processed oil. Also read the label. A lot of oils marketed as "coconut oil" are actually soybean oil with a teeny little bit of coconut oil in them.

What about the Parachute brand coconut oil. Is it 100%
coconut oil or a diluted version?

How does coconut oil work?

Does it soften the hair the way olive oil does?

I can understand putting an extremely small amount on the hair for grooming purposes, but putting it on the scalp would allow any dirt from the scalp to work its way down to the face and cause pimples, wouldn't it?

I was surprised to find this at Amazon

Parachute Coconut Oil, 16.09-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 4): Amazon.com: Grocery

Looks like it is 100% coconut oil.

You don't leave it on for a long time. You generously apply to scalp,
massage a few minutes, wait half hour or so then go take a shower
and wash you hair.

I think it is called oil bath in India. You also put it on your entire body
if you want, typically done on Saturdays for some reason in my family
long time back.

Some of the old things are still good. Coconut oil is being used for a lot of things now. For hair conditioner, diet supplement, for cooking healthier meals and in various beauty products. It's popular stuff!

You might not go here but trust me, this place u can get ANY type of oil. I get mine from an Indian store. so just look up Bombay imports or Indian Supermarket and u will get your oil. its because Indians use a lot of oil in the hair, which is made out of food (it is made for food but i use it in my hair).

When you say 'fresh coconut' oil, what do you mean by fresh, as the ones i see in shops come in normal plastic bottles! How would you describe fresh coconut oil, as in literally fresh or something else?

You are right. I know about the coconut oil. In all these posts i have been trying to educate people about the importance of coconut oil and other herbal things like hibiscus, aloe etc. It primarily protects hair, makes it shine and nourishes.
