Default Does hair coloring really damages the hair and scalp?

Just recently, a friend of mine had her hair colored. It brought her a new look, yet, some warned her that it might damage her hair and scalp. Is that really so?

Well, we hear it all the time that perm and hair color are damaging for the hair so these procedures should not be done too often. I think good brands of hair color are rather gentle today, so the damage is minimal. Most also include a tube of good conditioner to help nourish and restore the hair.

It just depends on how long and how often you color your hair. The damage will most likely be minimal like Lissy said, but I think you should let your hair be its natural hair color for awhile to give it a break.

Chemicals are never good for our body, even for the hair and scalp. However, with the rise of natural products nowadays, damage is kept to a minimum since there are hair coloring products now that has natural ingredients instead of pure chemicals.

But of course, even if it says natural, one shouldn't color or perm the hair too often. The hair and scalp should be given a rest.

Frequent hair coloring can result in the hair drying out, so you do need to condition it well.

It can cause more serious scalp problems for those who have allergies to the hair dyes.

There's a possibility for the hair to get damaged from any kind of treatments that you put on your hair. Even normal weather conditions have an effect on the hair.
