Sun does not only harm your skin that is exposed to it but it is also bad for hair if exposed too much in the sun. All the care that you take at home for healthy and good hair will go waist if exposed too much to sun. So we would advice to avoid heat and sun both. Sun and blow dryers actually damage your hair. They not only dry you hair but make them brittle too. Unless and until it is really required let you hair dry naturally in the air instead of blow drying them. Always cover your hair with a scarf or a hat if you are going out in the sun. The heat from the sun and the UV rays damage your hair.

I guess what you said is really true because I used to use a blow dryers before, but now I reduced it because it is making my hair dry. and excess heat is really bad not only for our hair but also our skin

I agree, but there are plenty of shampoos, conditioners and other protectors to prevent your hair from reaching the brittle stage. Some are affordable but the more effective products cost more.

I don't spend that much time out in the sun, but I used to, and I had noticed that every summer my hair would get slightly discolored. It would get a little dryer, too. One solution is wearing a hat or a scarf, and if you are not into covering your head, then you should help your hair by nourishing shampoos and other products.

Speaking of hair and the sun, does anyone know if salt water is bad for the hair? I am of course referring to swimming in the ocean and such.

salt water is bad for the hair if you are doing it all the time (like if you are a pro surfer or something). I live in a very sunny part of the world and have noticed that my hair and scalp become extra dry during the summer, so I have a big floppy hat to wear when I am outdoors. |
