Default How Safe Is Canola Oil?

I tried putting canola oil in my hair, and before it was really dry, but after putting the oil in my hair, it gave it all the moisture that I needed my hair to have. I later went online that day to look up whether canola oil was good for my hair or not, but I have heard many times that it was it was good and that it was bad. Is canola oil really safe for the hair and scalp?

I'm honestly not sure. It's frustrating how there can be conflicting stories about whether or not something is good for us. Sometimes I wonder if people really even know lol. I would talk to a professional about it.. maybe someone at your salon?

It's been so long since I've been to a salon or even had a professional look at my hair and scalp. When I did use the canola oil, I was very happy with the results, but I did use a little too much, so my hair was very oily for days.

I have read in quite a few websites that Canola Oil contains rapeseed plant which is not safe for human consumption. There are however other stories who contradict these reports. Thus, I am not sure whether or not it's safe. I would rather not use it though.

We use canola oil for cooking and haven't had any side effects.

Not sure about putting in the hair though.

I don't even know what Canola oil is. If it is not meant for human consumption, what is it used for?

Of course it is used for human consumption. It is one of the
best oils for cooking.

There are many products on the market that ''seem'' to be the best for different purposes; but they are not necessarily as the producers of them claim to be. Stating that canola oil is one of the best oils for cooking is not only little exaggerated, it is also purely your personal opinion. Since I posted the first time about it, I researched further and I have yet to find anything that supports the validity of canola oil being safe for ingestion.

Butterfly, yes it is my opinion, but not just my opinion, It is shared
by a vast number of knowledgeable people including my doctor.

Check out wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canola

"The Canola Council of Canada states that it is completely safe and is the "healthiest" of all commonly used cooking oils.[18] It has well established heart health benefits[19] and is recognized by many health professional organizations including the American Dietetic Association, and American Heart Association, among others.[20][21][22][23] Canola oil has been authorized a qualified health claim from the US Food and Drug Administration [24] based on its ability to reduce the risk of coronary heart disease due to its unsaturated fat content."

Now there will always be scare tactics and false information
claiming this or that is bad. Don't believe in everything on the internet.

Also on that wikipedia page

"[edit] Urban legend
An e-mail was circulated that linked canola oil to a variety of false claims that it was harmful to human health. This is considered an email hoax making unsubstantiated claims.[25][26]"

regards
-Farce

p.s And snopes is always a good source to debunk internet myths ;-)

I guess that's why it's so hard to make a good decision about whether canola oil is good for us. There's equal amounts of information and studies saying that it's good and bad. I haven't had any problems in my experience with it.
