Always wear a cap when swimming. Chlorine and salt water dry out the hair and can alter the color of chemically treated hair. |

Alot of people think that its stupid wearing a swimming cap, but I have to insist to those who go swimming on a regular basis should always wear a cap. You may not feel a difference in your hair in a week, but in the long run the chlorine inside the pool ruins your hair to a large extent.

Oh I see, never thought about bringing a swimming cap in the pool coz they thought it's silly to use them. Although I only go for some swimming in the pool like once or twice a year.

I agree with you all. Swimming without a cap can ruin your hair over time, especially if you have high-lights or dyed hair. There are some great natural hair products though, made for swimmers' hair, which can help.

From personal experience, I can say that chlorine will dry your hair and make it hard to brush even after you wash it, giving you a greater chance of breaking off some of it. Plus it doesn't feel as soft as it normally does. I've found that I after I swim, when I shower, if I shampoo my hair twice, it helps get the chlorine out better.

I like to swim. I would enjoy the water more if I don't use swimming cap. Why don't you try to apply hair conditioner instead? It could somehow protect your hair.

Hmm should you put the conditioner before or after swimming? By the way when you're swimming for a long period do you feel like still in the water even though your not swimming anymore? I got that feeling everytime.
