Default Combing hair is good for blood circulation

It’s important to comb your hair and its especially beneficial and useful combing it when going to the bed in night, as it will help in increasing the blood circulation of scalp, and reduces unnecessary hair loss.

You shouldnt be to harsh though. This could increase hair fall and usually causes dandruff especially if you comb is point. Try to use the blunt combs and try not to touch your scalp as often.

True you should use a mild brush, and it also depends on your hair type to what brush you should use!

People with less hair, and prone to more hair fall should use the milder brushes and the other way round for people with heavy and tangled hair.

It is also recommended not too comb your hair too often in a day, it may lead to weekning of hair and hair fall, twice or thrice is fine.

I have been putting in a concerted effort recently to brush my hair. All I usually have time for is a few strokes of a comb on a morning to neaten it up.

I do actually think that brushing frequently helps. It has made my hair look shiny and much flatter, rather than fly away.

when i was small, my grandmother once told me that combing the hair often would bring the natural shine out. So I did just that! I found out that the combing did not only make my hair so shiny and black, it also made my hair thick and straight. So, I could say its more benefits than damage.

Hi. Thanks for your post, bammer. I will bear this in mind. I have been reading contradictory statements...it is good to know that combing your hair is really beneficial

If you aren't careful with the angle you use when combing your hair, you can end up pulling more of it out.

If you wish to stimulate blood flow, massage the scalp and leave the hair alone. There are no blood vessels in the hair itself. The are all in the scalp!

I've heard combing is better than brushing and that combing is good for removing loose dead hair but never for circulation, but thanks for sharing that it makes alot of sense.

ok, there is a lot of conflicting data out there. Here is the scoop on combing vs brushing your hair.
You should comb your hair to remove tangles. You should comb your hair when it is wet. NEVER brush your hair if it is wet. If you have oily hair you should brush your hair with a soft bristle brush for five minutes around 1/2 hour before washing your hair, this will stimulate your scalp encouraging hair growth, and also encourage oil production which you will then wash away when you shampoo. If you have dry hair you should brush your hair with a soft bristle brush after you shampoo and dry your hair in order to give your hair some oils. A natural bristle brush is best! Remember, don't just brush your hair, but be sure to scratch your head with the brush, this stimulates the scalp reducing hairfall.

Combing one’s hair can definitely be an effective assistant while treating the problem of hair loss. Therefore, if you want to regrow hair and make it strong and healthy you should learn to comb it properly.
First, let’s speak of the choice of combs. Naturally, each family member should have a separate one for his or her own use. The comb-teeth should be blunt and smooth. If they are sharp you can scratch and hurt your scalp. Don’t use metal combs with thick teeth as they tear and break hair. Combs with blunt and smooth teeth a preferable also from a hygienic point of view as they can be cleaned easily.
You can also use a brush. The brush-bristle should be rigid enough but at the same time it should not hurt your skin. For the best result you can use two types of brushes: one with a quite rigid bristle to remove dirt and dandruff and stimulate your head-skin; the other with a rather soft bristle to make your hair even and lustrous.
Now let’s turn to the process itself. The most important thing here is to make blood freely flow and circulate in the scalp. It cleans hair bulbs, feeds and revitalizes them. For this purpose you should stand up with legs widely separated, knees slightly bended, the body a bit tilted to make your head lower the heart level. Comb your hair leading the comb or the brush from the scalp to the tips of your hair to clean the head-skin from dirt and dandruff and remove dead hair. Careful twitching will help to stimulate and relax the scalp. Long and thick hair should be patiently combed little by little, strand by strand.
Follow this simple tips if you want to strive against hair loss and regrow hair. It is not a quick fix, of course, but in course of time the result will be evident, for sure.

hi,
Combing - Combing hair rigorously can cause hair fall, so keep the strokes gentle. Also excessive combing is harmful for your hair, do not comb your hair several times combing 2 to 3 times in a day is good enough. Do not use a fine toothed comb on wet hair, it will pull the hair and cause breakage. Always use a wide toothed comb to remove tangles and knots from your hair. Never buy a cheap comb because it is of poor quality and usually sharp.

Always keep your combs and brushes clean, to wash them soak it in warm water with a mild shampoo or soap for half an hour and then rinse it thoroughly. Cleaning is required at least once in a month.

Brushing one's hair makes it lustrous because the brushing stimulates circulation and the natural oils are released. Also I find that if you take the time to brush your hair sufficiently, you avoid having itchy scalp and dandruff.

Thanks for all the tips you're all sharing here in the thread. It's really helpful. For me, combing hair is good for blood circulation because it makes our head relaxed as well as makes our hair soft ang tangles free.

Hmmm well then if both can give a nice feedback I suppose I could use both of them to get the most out of it. I'm having trouble with my itchy scalp and hairfall.

Yes, I think so as well. Massaging your scalp also relaxes your whole body and it is a good trick if you are having hard time falling asleep.

Yes I agrees with you Arti that combing hair increases the blood circulation and it is important to comb your hair. To have more better blood circulation you can use electric comb. I am using it and it really works.

Speaking of an electric comb it does kinda feel good on the scalp. I tried using one from my aunt. It kinda tickles but feels good like getting a head massage when it's vibrating.

I really agree with you Bammer, why because, my grandma also used to tell these type of cautions while combing my hair, may be because of that my hair till now is thick, long, grows faster, and has shine on it, i thank my grandma.

Yes definitely combing the hair will increase blood circulation and also reduce stress. I am having the habit of taking oil massage weekly once. This will reduce body heat and promotes hair growth.

So over combing your hair may lead to hair fall.. and hair loss.. My suggestion is to do some exercise for the blood circulation and use comb rarely. Even if you use, try to use a comb with large tooth gaps.
