Hair care is not a difficult thing, but some myths that have always been floating around have made it look like the toughest job in the world. Here is am look at all the myths and something to explain their falseness. Some people say that if you wash your hair excessively it causes dryness or hair loss. Well the truth is the frequent washing doesn’t cause any harm to the hair. The best way is to wash the hair about three times a week. Also it would help to use the right type of shampoo that suits your hair type and their texture. It can be a great way to add some moisture and beauty to the hair. Also people think that the more they use the shampoo the cleaner their hair will be. Well the truth is that a dollop of shampoo is enough. This much shampoo is just right for long hair. If your hair is extra long, take a little more of it. Some people claim that a conditioner is the best way to repair the split ends. Well the truth is that no conditioner in the world can "repair" the damaged hair. The only thing that it can do is that it can just smooth down the hair cuticle and make its condition a little better. Also the conditioner can help any sort of damage from happening. Here is the most common myth, that if you blow-dry your hair it can cause permanent hair loss. Well the truth is that the blow-drying process can actually damage, burn down or dry up the hair, which may cause them to fall. However this hair loss is not permanent in nature and the hair, eventually grow back immediately. So that now you know what the truth is, just shrug off the above myths when you hear them the next time. |

One more myth I would like to address is that 'Hair color ruins you hair'. Now I admit this can be true but very rarely. Coloring your hair infact makes the hair strand stronger and thicker by coating it and also adds to shine all this while covering your grays and giving you a trendy shade. |

I really want to agree with you friend but i have seen a fairly good number of people having gray and dry hair once the hair color starts shedding off. Ya as long as it's on your hair it will protect them.

It is common for most people to have dry hair after their dye starts shedding. The most important thing to remember when coloring your hair is use a good quality product and care for your hair very well once it is colored. @ Sharan - blow drying can damage your hair as well as your scalp, like you said it drys the hair, but it also drys the scalp, which can make it look flaky! Its always good to use a heat protector whenever using a heated product, which can save you from any damages being done to your hair. |

I can say the same thing about hair coloring. It caused premature graying hair for me after I had my hair colored once. Now I have just regretted it. |

I know that perm and coloring damages hair, perm to a larger extent. You can choose high quality hair colors that go easy on your hair these days, and most of them have a special conditioner enclosed that will help to nourish the hair after you color, but there is still some damage. I would not color my hair too often.

Hi Sharan, I am glad that you have posted this article because I had heard most of the things that are mentioned and actually believed them to be true. Thank you for sharing |
