Default Facial hair

As I am in my late 30's fast approaching 40 I am finding that I am getting more and more hair on my face, I started having it waxed off but that became rather painful and so I used a face hair removal cream which did the trick for a while but now I'm finding it's not taking the hair off like it use to. Alot of the procedures on the market now are expensive and I wonder if anyone had any tips that I could do to get rid of this hair.

I would love the answer to this question as well. I have lots of facial hair. My method is shaving. I have to shave a few times a day, actually.

Someone suggested I use the as seen on tv product, "Smooth Away". I am not sure if this product works. I have heard they work, but have not seen it first hand. You supposedly can rub the hair right off.

I also can not afford the laser treatments. They are expensive.

Have you considered bleaching?

My sister has a similar problem but with her arms. She buys some bleaching cream and applies it to her arms to make the hair appear lighter. I'm sorry I don't really know much else about it or where she buys the bleaching cream, but it could be something for you to think about.

I like the idea of a cream that just wipes away the hair, this sounds less harsh on the skin. I must look out for that product and I wonder if it works on coarse hair ?

Regarding bleaching you can still see the hair, as it's not just one or two stray hairs it would look like a billy goat

If you have a lot of hair, and are a little large around the middle, you may also want to chat with your doctor about the possibility of PCOS.

As for removal. I have less than a dozen hairs at the corners of my mouth so I tweeze. If you have too many hairs to tweeze, you may want to consider buying a professional grade home waxing equipment. Where you plug in the wax warmer and wax your face just like they do in the salon. After you are done waxing, then you just go back and tweeze any stragglers.

I do have PCOS. The sad thing is there is no cure for it. It is just something I have to deal with. My doctor suggested some weightloss--it slows down the side effects of PCOS, but she said it never truly goes away.

The "smooth away" product is not a cream. It reminds me of sand paper but you can use it on skin..lol You supposedly just rub it around in a circle and it takes the hair off.

My next door neighbor had breast cancer and after all her treatments--she started having hair growing where she had never had it before. It also came in thick (because of the meds she was on)--she bought this product because she couldn't shave, she couldn't afford to get a cut and end up bleeding out. She loved this product. She said it worked great. I know they sell for $10 in the drug stores.

Sweetvmom- I have heard that some doctors are having some success treating PCOS with certain diabetes medications? I have a friend who has PCOS and she is on Glucophage for it.. it is not a cure, but a treatment and it has been helping her. (not with the hair, but with the other symptoms)

Has anyone considered lazor hair removal? I bet it isn't cheap, but it is permanent.

The Smooth away does work. My mom has some hairs on her chin and she bought the smooth away. The hair isn't course though. Just rub that smoot away on the chin and it is gone.
I even tried it on my legs to see if it really worked and it did!

I had 12 sessions of Laser hair removal and it worked while it was been done but as soon as I stopped it came back with a vengeance. The cost of it was phenomenal. I like the sound of that Smooth away, I think I'll invest in one it sounds perfect.

Shaving is probably one of the worst ways to deal with facial hair for women. It cuts the hairs off too bluntly and makes them show worse when they do grow back. I know it's kind of painful, but tweezing or using another kind of removal system is really the best way to go!

I have yet to find anything that works effectively. ''Smooth Away'' doesn't work for me, and as it is mentioned earlier, it does, in fact, remind me of the sand paper as well. When you use it, it feels as though it is just scraping the top layer of skin but the hair just stays. I find that the wax strips work very well, especially the Nair brand. Most of the time, the manufacturer doubles the quantity in the box as a bonus, too. And since you don't have to use it everyday, it is actually pretty reasonable for about $7 a box.

Have you considered an epilator? Braun makes one that is pretty good. It's not like the old "epilady" torture device. This new style is less painful.

Torture device.. lol I like it, I use to have one of these and once it gets going I think the skin becomes so numb that you can't really feel it, it's more the initial starting off that is very painful.

i would not recommended shaving your facial hair, as your hair grows more courser and darker, so instead try the Indian method of threading. Go to any Indian salon and they will do threading for you, which is good for facial hair.

As we get older we discover hair growing in lots of distressful places like the face. When this first started happening to me I used depilatories. They were horrible. They smelled bad and burned my chin so bad that it was red and it hurt to touch it.

Finally I just gave in and started using an electric razor and I'm very happy with it. I use a women's electric razor and it works very well. There are razors out now specifically mad to shave a women's face, chin, and upper lip, not to mention other places.

Once you get over the fact that you're using a razor you'll be happy. It isn't a big deal, it's just a way to get rid of unwanted hair.

I tried the laser removal. It worked but only a little bit. I couldn`t afford to keep going back at $75 a pop. It did make it come in less noticeable though. And it`s not as coarse. I`m Italian and they said it may not work as good on me. But it did help some. Now I either tweeze it or I use wax. I like the wax better. I get the stuff form the salon supply stores. That works better than the ones they have on the store. I used to use the bleach stuff but it started to leave my skin discolored.

I have a lot of little hairs on my forehead. i tweeze them. I actually enjoy the ritual. Very relaxing for me. By making it part of my daily regimen, it's hardly a chore.

I don't ever shave or wax any facial hair of mine. I don't want them to grow thicker since it doesn't bothering my looks at all so I let them be.

Shaving does not make hair grow back coarser or darker, it just seems so intially because of the hairs stumps that poke out first

I can not use tweezers because of the way it comes in. It's almost like a man's beard. I know, sounds horrible, huh? Well, it is. I have to shave 3 (or more around period time) a day to keep it away. I worry sometimes what would happen if I ever had to be hospitalized. I am so private about it, my family doesn't even know. If I was hospitalized--everybody would know.

I can not afford laser treatment and I think the bleaching wouldn't work in my case because it grows so fast. It's nice to know the smooth away works.

For some people it is very natural that females get hairs on thier face, it should be taken care in the earlir stage so that complete removal for life long will be possible, even now you can try hair removal and then apply some turmeric oil to you face to prevent hair growth.

I haven't heard off turmeric oil, I will look into this, does it work or is it another one of these things that claim to do the job but don't ?
