In some places in Africa women wax themselves once a week so they will be "clean" for their husbands. They use some kind of wax and literally rub it all over their arms and legs and pull the hair out. The wax is not in a melted stage at all. I hear that it is pretty painful but the women like doing it for their husbands. There are a few other things they also do to cleanse themselves weekly but waxing off their arm and leg hair is important to them.

I don't wax my arms, but well, pretty much everything else gets bi-weekly bodysugaring or waxing. I like to have the hair gone as does my husband.... but there is no "double standard" in our home... The hubby waxes his back and keeps everything neat and tidy "down below" What is that they call it? "manscaping" I think.

I do it, but for myself, I guess some cultures seem strange to some and not to others. It's sort of like been in a new relationship, you wax/shave all the time in the beginning keeping yourself all neat and tidy and as soon as you settle in with each other that all goes out the window I don't like the sound of the wax not been completely melted (((Ouch)))

When I go to get my eyebrows waxed I always lay there wondering why I do this just to keep up my appearance. There is no way I would wax my entire body!

It hurts to get my eyebrows waxed too! I can't even imagine getting anything else waxed. I simply shave.

I saw a great program that showed the procedure in Africa and explained the reasoning behind it. Yes, the women do it for their men because it is a form of cleansing. They also cleanse the rest of their body by putting blankets all over them while a certain type of wood burns around them.

It is a painful process but the women like doing it for their men.

That very intersting to know about the african women, that they do waxing to remove hair growth to be clean for thier husbands, why do they only waxing method? when there are a number methods? so is that a traditional way of hair removal or something like that?
