Default More Mature than Men?

Why is it that women are more mature than men? This all starts when we're little. Adults will say that girls grow faster than boys? That makes me feel like I'm more genetically inclined to grow up and miss some of my childhood. Does anyone have any clue why things are this way?

I think it is because we are more responsible than men.We are more caring. Take an inexperienced woman mothering a baby as an example. Can men do the things we do?

Catwoman has a really good thought. I bet it does have to do with the fact that women are genetically inclined to take care of young, which takes more maturity. Men are genetically made to spread their 'seed'. I think that makes a lot of sense, but I'm no genius

I don't agree with you Hirami ! You can't generalize. It all depends on the individual, how much of responsibility he or she shares in the household, the weay he or she has been brought up and the family background. I have known men who are mature and some women totally immature

Hirami has a low opinion of men in general

It's not that I have a lot opinion of men, this is just based on my observations of people around me. Take being in school for example. The majority of people who disrupted class and were sent to the principal's office were boys. This didn't change even in high school.

I agree that people shouldn't generalize because everyone is an individual, but we must admit, all of us do it from time to time. I try not to, but there are things that each person deals with in their life that may make them be more negative towards certain sexes, races etc.

I have met some REALLY mature men, as well as REALLY mature women. I think it doesn't only have to do with your genetic makeup but also your experiences, and the way you were brought up. Some things you deal with as a child can make you mature quicker than others.

Genetics play a role in who we are. Some characteristics and behaviors are wired into our DNA. However, some behaviors are learned. Society has different expectations of men and women. It use to be law that in a custody battle women were presumed to be the preferred custodian of young children. Today laws have been changed to reflect both parents are equally capable and important to raise their child. Courts now base custody on the best interest of the child rather than sex of the parent.
