How did you learn about sex? Did you parents give you "the talk" or did you already know? My mom tried to say some stuff to me, and I just stopped her and told her that I already knew about it.

| I don't really remember it and I don't remember how much I knew, but I remember my mom pulled me into the kitchen one day. I'm not sure if I had asked, or how it came up. Apparently, my dad was really shy about it and couldn't do it lol

I don't remember much, either. I know mom tried to educate me as I was growing up, she told me about "ladies monthly troubles" in advance, so I was prepared when I had to deal with it. I don't recall any specific conversation about sex though. I must have gotten the info from books, and then mom knew that I knew. |

There was a time before that when my mom and dad talked to my brother and me about it. It turned into one big family talk. I wasn't really comfortable talking about it, but it wasn't as embarrassing as I thought it was going to be.

My parents never talked to me about sex and it was better that way for me. I experimented and read a lot on it. I believe that if your parents are not comfortable enough to tell you anything about it, it is best that you do your own research and not be in the dark about it.

| I wish my parents would have pushed me to research things. I learn most things from school sex ed. I guess I never realized when I was young, that the internet was such a great source of info. It's nice b/c you don't get embarrassed about someone seeing what you're looking up. If I were curious at school and wanted to check out a book.. I would have worried people would see lol. I think most kids are very shy like that.

My husband said he'd once found a book on his bed that his mom obviously wanted him to read to educate himself on the subject. That's one way to deal with it: if you don't feel you can talk about it to your kids, get them a good book and just leave it in their room. No words need to be spoken. They'll understand.
