Which do you prefer using, a tampon or a pad? Learning about Toxic Shock Syndrome for the first time scared me, so I decided that I would wear a pad. Don't tampons hurt to put on?

When I had first started using tampons, I had heard about the possibility shock syndrome, and it worried me a bit, but then I read that if you change the tampons frequently, they are very safe. No, it does not hurt at all to insert and wear them. I never used them when I was a virgin though, and I would not recommend it. |

| I heard about TSS and it scared me but I'd TOTALLY prefer using a tampon vs a pad. Pads are icky in my opinion. I don't wanna wear a diaper From what I've heard, you can't get it unless you leave your tampon in for a CRAZY amount of time.. like days or something.

TSS is a very rare condition and it doesn't happen unless you forget your tampon in for a long period of time. I use tampons since my teenager years and I could never use pads. Tampons allow me to move around freely and I don't even think about having my period; whereas one can feel the presence of the pads constantly and it's a very uncomfortable and annoying feeling.

I wear pads, and it can become a very annoying thing when the time comes for you to change it, but most of the time, I don't feel it. I will sometimes forget that I'm even wearing it.
