Going to the gynaecologist is embarrassing enough for me because I don't feel comfortable taking my clothes off or being partially naked in front of strangers, even if that person is a doctor. So, what kind of gynaecologist do you prefer having, a man or a woman?

I haven't really come across a male gyno, so haven't really been hesitant or come across an embarrassing situation. Although it is still embarrassing even in front of a female gyno, but hey if something is wrong its needs to be sorted out, so leave the embarrassment at home that time

I know, I'm actually a little glad that I didn't have a male doctor. At least the doctor I had tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible.

Of course, I would feel more comfortable if my doctor would be a female. Is there a man in the field gynecology? I haven't encounter them yet. It would be embarrassing for me too.

I prefer the women kind

I have not came across a male gyno, I prefer to have a female gyno, because its really embarrassing for me too to be partial naked in front of a strange man.

I've had both a male and a female doctor. Surprisingly, the male was a lot nicer than the female. He made me feel very comfortable even though I was embarassed.

The female was okay but she tended to preacha lot to me. I need a doctor who will nicely tell me something and not act I don't know what's goingt on.

Most of my doctors are male anyway so I guess I'll stick to a male gyno too.

There are TONS of male gynos. I don't know that I have a preference, but mine is a male and he is a great dr.

It is nothing to be embarassed about, you are a woman, they are a professional. There is nothing sexy about looking at a vagina under a sheet and seeing nothing else lol. That is why they do it that way. And anyway, there is always a nurse in the room when they do those kind of exams. Nothing to be nervous about.

I prefer also a woman coz I am a female also. I also feel uneasy going to them especially during our annual physical exam at the office..

Nice one there. Although I really want my gyno to be female so that i'll be at ease. I don't want a guy examining me even if he's a professional I still wonder what he's thinking at the back of his mind. O.o

ive never been to a gynaecologist because I get my regular pap smears at my general practitioner. I am pretty sure I would want a woman though. I would just feel more comfortable with someone who shares all my same experiences.

Well I think its easier for women outside of India, and being in India well having a man as a gyno wouldn't work very well, therefore I dont think you would find any male gyno's! And women hardly go to a male doctor for any women related issues. Its just the atmosphere in India, and how men are less trusted in these situations.

I think generally most women would prefer a female doctor no matter what country they are in. I would prefer to have a female doctor, too. I know that the nurse is there to assist the doctor, but it doesn't help having two strangers see you naked.

Male gynac's are more than the female one's and some of the females choose to go to male doc's as they care for the females.

Male's have a tendency to be attracted and not harm them so male's will be more careful than the female one's (many may not agree but this is the fact as I am a Dr too )

Its good if a female gyanc is there to take care of you but if you had to go to a male then do not hesitate, we are will trained to be proffessionals.

I prefer male gynecologists by far because I find them to be much nicer than the female ones. Mine is extremely gentle and always makes me feel very comfortable during my visits.

I always had a male gynaecologist when I was having my children. Now that I am not going to have any more children, I go to one of the lady nurse practitioners for my yearly exam. I have no problem with using a male doctor.

I used to go to a male doctor and I loved him. He was great and gentle. He delivered my daughter. I have had other doctors that aren't as gentle, both men and women.

Right now I'm seeing a woman doctor. I'm not having anymore children either and I just feel more comfortable with her.

Sometimes I think this would all be easier if the person who performed the exam was a robot, just have the whole process automated. Wouldn't that be nice? It would be more objective, but then the robot would be constantly collecting data and recording. That could get a little weird....

I would prefer to have a woman. I'm not sure that I would trust a man. Maybe I've just watched too much scary movies and things, but I'm just worried about getting some creep or something

I prefer women doctors because they are more sensitive and more careful. I had a bad experience with a male doctor when I started having labor pains. He performed an internal examination of my cervix without using a gel and I nearly kicked his face.

The woman that I had was talking to me during the procedure, and I thought it was a pretty welcome distraction to have. I almost forgot that I was getting an exam done...almost.

I know a person who would prefer a male gynecologists. they say they are better than female gynecologists. Anyway, I still haven't tested it since my gynecologists is a woman. But if I will just imagine a male gynecologists, it makes me feel shy. but since its their profession, they are just doing there jobs

I've never had a male gynecologist, but I think the reason that they're nicer is because they're trying extra hard to make the woman feel as comfortable as possible. Having a male doctor look at you while you're naked can be unsettling, and they are aware of this fact.

I don't think I could bear to look the gynocologist in the eye if I had a male doctor, let alone talk to him. I think I would be more likely to run out of the room or something.
