Exclamation Not heavy, but long menstral cycles

I can say I've had a bad history with menstral cycles. I had my daughter at a young age and she is 3 going on 4 years old now. The problem is that ever since I had her my mentral cycles have been really abnormal. My periods are not usually heavy anymore, which was the problem for years before I gave birth, but now almost every month they come early, and last for over a week - sometimes two. On the average my periods last about 10-12 days. I've tried birth control, all kinds, but I just get sick. After almost 4 years of going to the doctor and not recieving any real results, I am determined to cure myself. Please, any advice would be appreciated!

Have you gotten a second opinion on this? Sometimes going to different doctors can be more helpful than a single doctor. If that doesn't help, you should look to WebMd for help.

Yes I have gone to three different doctors, but they all say nothing is wrong. They suggest birth control to regulate the cycle, or let it regulate itself. I think its probably stress, which can affect the body harshly. I haven't but I will check on Web m.d. thanks

No problem. If your instincts are telling you that something is wrong, you should follow those. Doctors have been wrong before.

My periods used to last 7 - 10 days, sometimes as long as 12 days. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said that as long as I have no pain and my period was always like that I shouldn't worry. Every woman is different. My friend's period used to last for three days and that was normal for her. Normal for me was a 10 day period.

Have you considered getting an ultra sound done, as sometime the cause of this problem you mentioned can be due to PCOS/PCOD, which can cause problem in periods.

I suggest you get the ultra sound done first then once you get the results take steps from there.

I used to have long periods before I went into menopause. My average menstrual period was 8 days, while my friends have theirs at an average of 3 days. I'd say your normal average may be 10 days. I used to go through about 15 napkins during my periods.
