During my school days, I have escaped a lot of boring lectures through my only way to freedom: daydreaming. I highly recommend it to people of all ages and sizes. If you are able to nod your head occasionally and smile when people around you are smiling, you will be graded an excellent listener. But try not to get a glazed expression as Harry Potter did while listening to his aunt Marge. A daydream may be a fantasy or a plan for future or even a recollection of a past event. Daydreaming has been criticized as being non-productive and lazy. But later on, psychologists have amended that daydreaming can be highly constructive in some contexts. Especially for people in a creative field like music composers, film makers and writers, daydreaming will be the way to find a new idea. Even mathematicians and physicists have made use of this "lazy pastime" to develop new and inspiring ideas. Researchers state that mostly people daydream of ordinary everyday events and this even works as an analysis of the details of the day. This helps people to remember mundane tasks of the day. It has also been found that people who day dream more tend to be more empathetic. During daydreaming, the brain activity is increased and this is when brain consolidates learning. It must inspire daydreamers to know that many successful people like Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, Beethoven and Walt Disney used to daydream a lot about their areas of success. |

Daydreaming helps me get focus, which seems odd . It helps me escape the stress of the day and think about something random. Also, my bf and I have many in depth convos about the most random things during the day.. that helps too Last edited by abeja_reina_1989; 04-02-2010 at 05:13 AM. Reason: :P |

Yes, I know what you are talking about. I used to escape into dreams (and books) as well when I was at school, it helped to survive boring classes. I think it also helps to develop your imagination and thinking.

Day dreaming is my hobby when I was in high school. Now, I don't have time to day dream, I'm too busy to do that. |

Daydreaming has been a big aid to me as a writer. Even when I'm not writing, it's like I'm always brainstorming, so I would still generate an idea. It's also a good way to make yourself look like you're paying attention when you're really not.

I discovered that I could make myself do all the boring studies just by day dreaming about the unknown future results (of course positively). It turned out to be quite an inspiration. The above was just an example how I try to motivate myself just in case I crash on hard grounds.

The thing about day dreaming is that it can get pretty intense for me. One thing leads to another, and I'm thinking about something else entirely! I usually forget where I am.
