Default Saving for retirement

What are your plans on saving for retirement? Do you have a 410K or a retirement fund? Do you put a certain amount away each week out of your pay towards retirement?

Since I am very young, and just starting out in the workforce, it would be ideal for me to save money for retirement, but I don't have anything formal because my work is mostly freelance. I don't really plan to retire, and I'm very distrustful of the whole 401(k) system.

I wish I could say I'm saving money, but I really haven't been. I never had a 401k when I was working or anything like that. Now that I have some money saved (kinda) lol.. I think I'm going to start doing some kind of investing. I'm just nervous, because I've never done it, and I'm worried about losing money

My husband and I both have 401k things, but there's not much them. We also have a savings account that could cover the expenses for about 1 month if we need to use it. As for really having a retirement saving, we don't really have anything, but it is something that we need to start. It's never to early to start!

I guess one of the main reasons that I don't plan on getting a 401(k) plan is because of my dad's experience with his. I don't remember exactly what happened, but I don't think that he was very satisfied with his.

I try to save as much as I can, just to make sure I have some money to back me up; I hate to be penniless. So while it is not specifically for retirement, I feel like I am doing something right.

I also hate having to backup fund when I needed cash. My parents are definitely prepared for this even though my dad is just 45 he did get an insurance for him and my youngest brother since he can afford it with his job and my mom's store. I will get some for myself once I can afford to have it.
