Default Gun Laws

With all the recent crimes involving armed gunmen, how do you feel about the country's gun laws? Should they be more lenient? Should they be more relaxed?

I think that people should be allowed to own guns, because that's the only thing criminals are afraid of - that someone might shoot back. If they know that the law prohibits people from owning guns, they'll feel free to break into any house.

Speaking of guns I don't want to own one. Have you guys heard of the recent mass masacre here in Phil? Some muslims killed 20+ people including innocent civilians and media men. That's really terrible now that place has been declared to be in a martial law.

When was this? I haven't heard any such thing happened in Philadelphia

Which country are you exactly talking about? I think members are from
many different countries here on WF.

Well, there was the Fort Hood shooting here in Texas last month. When I think about all the gun-related crimes that go on, I notice that the people doing the shooting are usually mentally disturbed people. I think, "If they have guns, I'll need one, too." I'm glad that we have this right as Americans, but there will also be people who are going to abuse it. They should do more than a background check on you before buying. Maybe a psychological test will help, too?

Well, a civilian with a gun would have stopped those people much faster than a group of unarmed civilians, wouldn't you agree?

Also, who stopped the Fort Hood shooter? A brave police woman who, although wounded herself, sent 4 bullets in him.

I feel like just anybody can get a gun if they wanted one. Shouldn't people be required to have periodic psychological tests even after they've purchased the gun?
