When I was a girl, my mom wouldn't allow me to wear pants to church, but now that I'm older, she said that it was okay. Did anyone have any similar experiences? I still don't understand why she wouldn't let me wear them to church when I was little. Clothes should have nothing to do with your worship.

I completely agree that clothes do not matter to God, as long as they are appropriate (nothing showing that other people should not see) and clean.

The whole issue is started by the biblical passage that says that women should not be wearing men's clothes (as well as men should not be wearing women's clothes). Some people stubbornly consider pants "men's clothes," and will pick on women who chose to wear pants, even if the pants are specifically designed for women.

Well, I think very few women wear pants during those days when you were younger, and it was not yet acceptable to wear pants in church, unlike today when most women wear pants anywhere.

It might have been the way she was brought up by her parents, and perhaps she feels more comfortable with the idea now. I am not religious, so I'm not really sure if there are other implications in terms of the worship...

I think her forcing me to wear dresses when I was younger is one of the main reasons that I won't wear a dress anymore. I completely hate them. They're just too girly, and that's not really my personality.

I dislike skirts and dresses as well. I might wear them on a rare occasion, but I absolutely will not be forced to do so because of some church's requirements. If a church demands dress-only, I will not go there.
