I was wondering if anyone knows how to go about patenting ideas. I have many ideas that I would love to patent, and then from there, I want to use those ideas to make items like buttons, t-shirts, that kind of thing. Has anyone done this before? I guess I'm just not too sure where to start..

Well patents are for inventions alright and if you want it to be just uniquely yours well you can secure a patent for that. I'm not quite sure how they do that. I'm not a lawyer so I'm not sure about that one.

I'm not certain you can patent design concepts. You'd have to google that one.

I think creative works are copyrighted the moment you have completed them. It is certainly true for books - the moment your books is written, you have all the rights. Perhaps the same is true about designs. If you have yours online and have proof of creation date, you should be protected enough.

Why don't you start by writing in full detail your ideas and then mailing them to yourself? After that, get your works copyrighted or patented if you need to. I think you can go online and find a patent office or something.

I have always wondered that. If you have ever watched Dragons Den, you will see that patents and such can cost a lot of money to pass, but I suppose you would need some kind of lawyer to arrange it for you.
