Default What do you do when you get nervous?

Most people display their nervousness by biting their nails, playing with a lock of their hair or if in a conversation, they try to change the subject. I completely shut down and become very quiet, ignoring everyone around me. What do you do when you get nervous?

I take 15-20 drops of Valerian Root extract, diluted in water. Seriously, it does help.

As to physical manifestations of being nervous, I don't show any. I get withdrawn, I suppose. Never put my emotions on display.

I withdraw from the world around me. I cannot eat or sleep. My stomach churns and I get very thirsty, So I do drink lots of water.

My hands sweat a lot whenever I am nervous. To get rid of my nervousness, I would grab a pillow and cover my face. After that, I breathe deeply and I try to relax myself by thinking happy thoughts. Do you tell someone when you get nervous?

When I get nervous, I play with my piercings a lot. Like, I'll mess around with my lip ring or twist my earrings a lot. Another thing I will do is play with my hair, and twirl it around.

I am one of the nail biters when I am nervous. I don't know why but I can't help myself from biting it. Sometimes, I would just sit down and keep quiet while thinking what to do. It would really help if you tell someone how you feel. Do you think we could stop ourselves from doing this habit?

My little sister used to put hot sauce on her nails so that when she bit them, it would burn her mouth. She hated hot sauce. lol.

I've also hurt there are kinds of nail polishes or something like that that you can put on your nails so it tastes terrible when you bite them. I would give it a try, cuz I don't think it's good for your teeth to bite your nails.. I could be wrong..

I wil tremble a bit, my stomach churns and I will need to go to the rest room much more often than I usually do. However, taking deep breath several times will help a bit.

I try to focus on something else that does not make me nervous and breathe deeply. I know that I do sometime inadvertently play with my hair which in turn makes my hair look greasy. I don't know why I do that!

What things / situations make you nervous?

The worst thing for me were school exams... Boy, did I hate them. I'd be so scared that I felt physically unwell. I had to do good on those exams, and I was terrified of forgetting something and not hitting the mark.

I get nervous when in large groups of people.
When I have to speak in front of a crowd.
When I would go to work every day, I would cry like the entire way there.. I was just nervous that I was gunna get yelled at by a customer or something..
I'm nervous about my future and my decisions. I don't wanna regret the things I've done or will do

Reminder: I have anxiety, depression and OCD so I realize that it adds to these fears

Thumbs up

Nail biting is one when I feel nervous. I also lose my appetite for food and gets disorders in sleep. I try to have deep breathes to keep me calm and relax. I also keep myself alone during that period as I don't want to show my nervousness to others. I use to listen to music of my liking.
