Default needs or wants

When you go to shopping, do you always categorized you needs and wants? Well, it seems that this could be hard, because some would think their wants as needs.

I am very strict about this as I don't like wasting money. Needs are basically things that are necessary but wants do not have to be purchased right away. When I go shopping, I just pick up the things that I really need and whenever I get the extra money, I go for things that are not absolute necessities but I would still like to have anyway.

No, I really don't categorize my needs versus my wants. In fact, I would probably save money if I did!

My husband has a problem with this. He is convince he "needs" a playstation 3. To me, a "need" is something vital to life, like: food, shelter, water. In my opinion, everything else is just a "want."

Of course, I only buy the things that I need whenever I shop. However, if I would have plenty of money then, there's nothing wrong if I buy what I want. Anyway, what should we do to limit ourselves from spending?

I usually prepare my list for the things to purchase in a grocery. This is actually to avoid buying unimportant things. It's also important to categorize needs and wants. Are you aware that sometimes we misinterpreted between the two?

I always prioritize what I need. We should bring enough money only to minimize spending. Do you ask yourself wether you need the things you see? I do that often and it's helpful.

Well, of course, do you know that it's important to be aware of what you are

going to buy? One tip to avoid buying unimportant things is to have your

stomach full before going to shopping.

Thank you for that tip, kyles. That is what I usually do when I go to malls. Do

you know that if you practices that, you could also save money?

I am at a certain point in my life when I have identified my needs and my wants and have learned to prioritize them.

I do this because I am usually trying to be very careful with my money. I buy only our needs. Then when I get some extra cash and am in the mood, I go on my wants shopping trip. This is the fun trip where I buy things I really don't need, just want.

I do ask myself that question as well. Well, sometimes it's helpful but, not most of the time. I think it would be fine to bring more than enough. How much is enough money for you?

when shopping, I do prioritize the things that we need first. so mostly these are food. when we have extra that is the time we buy something we want or some luxuries. Or if we want something badly, we would just save money first until we reach the amount that we need to buy those stuffs.

I'm a terrible shopper. I literally go through the aisles and just grab whatever I want (or need) and just kinda toss it in. I don't look at prices or anything. It's a pretty pathetic thing and I've been trying to work on it, but it's pretty hard to do
