Default Growing Edible Mushroom

Is there any one here who has experience growing their own edible mushroom? How is it like? Is it easy and what do I need to get started?

I read somewhere that mushrooms need a different kind of potting medium that is placed in a box. The box has to be kept in a dark place with no sunlight and has to be kept moist. Here are some links to growing mushrooms at home. As far as I know, there are mushroom-growing kits available, with soil and spores ("seeds") already in place, with detailed instructions on what to do next - how to set it all up. I don't think it is too hard, I have heard people say that once you get going, the mushrooms just keep growing, all you need to do is harvest them on time to give room for more.

I've never grown my own mushrooms but it's something I would like to do. I love fresh mushrooms and we eat a lot of them. In garden salads, on pizza, etc.

I will be on the lookout for a mushroom kit to start next year.

I have never tried it but one of my friends did and she loved it. Apparently, you will have to make sure that they stay in a dark place though and ensure that the soil stays moist at all times. I am not crazy about mushrooms but I bet they would taste much better if they are grown at home.

They would cost you much less, too. We eat mushrooms with steak and add them into all kinds of dishes, like spaghetti and stroganoff, so it is probably a good idea for me to look into as well. However, we have a wooded area nearby where edible wild mushrooms grow, so I stock up on those, for free, every fall.
