do you follow a recipe when cooking something? or do you want to experiment a bit. Either adding something to taste more delicious or you don't include some ingredients in the recipe. lets share our experiences |

When I cook something for the first time, I usually follow the recipe. Then I see how the dish turns out, and when I make it next time, I might adjust it - add or remove certain ingredients, add more salt, etc.

I'm with Lissy. The first time I make a recipe, I almost always follow it exactly. After I've made it successfully at least once, I start experimenting with things that I think could enhance the taste.

I myself, would follow recipes when I cook for the first time, but sometimes, I do alter, especially, if the ingredients is not available and I think it can be omitted I just do it and good thing it would turn out well. Some tmes, I would look for three different recipe of a food, and compare, and merge what I think is good with it.

Do you always get the perfect output when you follow the instructions? Actually, I don't cook a lot but I have tried to bake once. I followed the steps but the result did not come out right. Did it ever happen to you?

@ brandy - yeh thats happened to me a few times, and the reason for this was because it was either some kind of substitute for an ingredient or it wasn't measured properly. When the next time i tried the same recipe with the exact right ingredients and precise weight or measurement of ingredients.

I usually follow the recipe to the letter the very first time I try it. After that, since I have an idea of how it will come out the next time, I will either modify the ingredients or just add others to enhance the taste or make it more elaborate.
