Default Hypothyroidism a barrier to pregnancy?

I have hypothyroidism and didn't have too much trouble getting pregnant twice, although I miscarried once. I now have two healthy sons. It's my understanding, however, that hypothyroidism can be a significant barrier to pregnancy. Does anyone have any personal experience with this?

I also had hypothyroidism and yes it did affect me in trying to conceive, it was only after I had tests done that I had hypothyroidism and that was a cause for not being able to conceive, after taking medication i have had two children. Im on tablets now to keep my thyroid under control.

Sara, that's great news! I too am on thyroid medication. It's kind of a pain to have this condition but it's far better than a lot of other conditions, I think.

Hypothyroidism is not a barrier to pregnancy if you have T3,T4,TSH level controlled. If not it will create some problems. One thing is it may lead to abortion or it affects the growth of the child.

I have hypothyroidism 3months after my delivery, presently on treatment, and is under control with treatment, my endocrinologist is slowly trying to tapper the drug, i'm worried of conceiving again thinking that it may result in abortion or undeveloped child, i'll consult my doctor and take his advise.

Default about hypothyroidism in general

Are there any others on the forum also with hypothyroidism now (or earlier)?

I think it can work. I'd talk to your doctor though to make sure that things go smoothly
