Default Planning for a baby

Me and my husband think we are both ready for a baby now, but want to be fully prepared and make sure everything goes ok. I dont know about abroad but in India i know you need to have tests and all done when wanting to plan.

What other precautions should be taken, I mean health wise, as in your diet, stress tension and all?

What all tests are involved when wanting to plan for a baby?

I want to get it right which is why im asking this, and both me and my husband want to be fully prepared.

Are you taking pre-natal vitamins? I think Folic acid is
very important. I am assuming you are not consuming alcohol.
Maintain your weight to an optimal level. Other than that
I don't think you need any other tests until after you get
pregnant. Some tips for your husband though - wear loose
boxer shorts underwear and stay out of saunas and steam rooms.
and both of you reduce your stress levels.

Good Luck.

Well Anu, if you normal, as in weight wise, and have currently have no problems there is no such need for specific tests. If there is anything, im sure your gyno would suggest the tests to you. And although she would ask you about family history you need to let know if you have any health problems like diabetes or if anyone in the family has.

You husband would also be asked to take seman test done.

Also what farce said is correct that you should be taking folic acid tablets, which should have been prescribed by your gynecologist. Also in case you haven't told your gynecologist, let her know you want plan and go from there.

Probably not necessary and would not be prescribed by the gyn
until they have been trying for some time to get pregnant.
If you are trying for 6-8 months and nothing happens you
might want to do those tests.

It really depends on the gynecologist you go and see, some are good and ask you to do all tests before to make sure everything is ok. Me and my husband were not trying and actually before trying we went to the gyno and she told us to do some test to make sure everything's fine, and there was a small problem which i took treatment for, then everything was fine.

Yes, I agree with you. It depends. I think in certain countries
with HMOs etc they try to minimize the tests to save money
and that's where I am coming from

Have some healthier foods like, milk, egg. Eat fresh fruits, and drink lot of water. Meditation will help you to reduce tension. Check for any skin diseases, thats enough until you get pregnant. You can check with gynecologist, they will guide you in better way.

Try to take folic acid tablets which increases the chance of pregnancy. Get a gynecologist opinion by checking both are healthy to plan for a child. If you are having any genetic problem or disese just discuss with the doctor.

You should not have stress and depression, if it is so, it will effect the growth of the child, you should be happy always with fresh mind, reading good books, having your diet regularly, avoid imbalance diet and take proper nutritious diet. If you are healthy, you can do your routine work, unless advised by the gynaecologist, all these are good for the growth and development of the foetus physically as well mentally. All The Best.
