Default Question about Follicles

Hi Guys,

I need some information. I will be meeting my Dr this evening but then I just thought it would be helpful if I can get this clarified before in hand.

I have a follicle (inside which only one ovum is present). It is 9mm (Endo Metrics) and the Right Ovary size was 20x18mm. It ruptured today (I took hCG injection 10,000 the day before yesterday). I confirmed this in today's Follicular Study Scan.

Now that my Follicle is ruptured, what is the percentage of chance I have that I could be pregnant? I know it is advisable to have relationship tonight and tomorrow morning. Apart from that, any other advices from the experienced ones?

Also, could there be any case (or was there any cases) where the follicle is ruptured and the women is not pregnant (even after having a "timely" relationship)?

EDIT: One Follicle means one baby and two follicle is twins.. Does it work that way? or am I wrong?

My RE told me that when you ovulate (ruptured follicle) and have well timed intercourse, that you have a one in four chance of becoming pregnant. Often times the egg will become fertilized, but fails to implant in the uterine wall.

Also, my doctor told me to have relations before the follicle ruptures because once it ruptures, the egg can only live for 8-12 hours, but the Sperm can live in your body for up to 5 days. So if you wait until after you release the egg the egg could die before you have intercourse. The doctor said to be safe, that we should be doing it every other day from the end of menstruation until ovulation is confirmed.

And yes, you are correct about twins. If you have two ruptured follicles and both of the eggs are fertilized and then implant, then you may have twins!
