Default How not to get pregnant?

How not to get pregnant?
Pregnancy is bliss if it is a willing affair! But what about pregnancy which when confirmed tends to take away the land below your feet? It becomes a night mare for a girl to become pregnant when she or the couple does not want a child. It is always better to prevent pregnancy than to get abortion! So, how not to get pregnant? Well, there are various ways by which you can prevent pregnancy but only few of them are effective.

Ways to Avoid Pregnancy
Withdrawal: his is a very old method that most people adopt not to make the partner pregnant! Withdrawal means to bring out the penis before ejaculation and ejaculate outside (not near the vaginal lips or orifice). This is popular among many couple but this may not be an effective solution not to get pregnant. There are chances that the few drops of semen coming out of penis can bring with it some amount of sperms. So, better not to take the risk!

Rhythm Method or Monitoring Period Method
This method is applicable since a long time throughout the world. In this case the woman monitors and keeps track of her menstrual cycle and ovulation. There is a period when the women is not ovulation and it is usually the time before the ovulation takes place and the time just before her next period. That is the week before and after her periods is called safe period. Having sex at this time reduces the chances of pregnancy by nearly 65%. However the ovulation cycle of women differs so there is always the risk of getting pregnant if the ovulation occurs late.

Use of Contraceptives
This is by far the best way to avoid pregnancy! One must trust the contraceptives. There are various kinds of contraceptives that are used to avoid pregnancy. Right from oral contraceptives to male and female condoms to IUDs are available to prevent a woman from getting pregnant.
Oral contraceptives: They are meant for woman only. The contraceptives should be taken according to advice of doctors or registered chemists. The contraceptives modify her egg cell production and they don’t get pregnant when there is sperm in the cervix.

Condoms: The Male condoms are considered the best method to prevent pregnancy till date after the contraceptive pills. The condoms are good barrier to prevent the sperm entering the reproductive unit of a female thus terminating the chance of getting pregnant. Both male and female condoms can be used to avoid pregnancy. While using the female condom one should be careful in placing it properly on place to let it get fit to the vaginal structure for effective intercourse.

Emergency Contraceptives: The emergency contraceptives are pills that a woman needs to take within 72 hours of unsafe sex. If there is a chance that she may get pregnant one can consult a doctor and take it. However one should not use the emergency contraceptive too frequently as it can cause severe harm to the female hormonal cycle. Once in a year or two years is just fine! It is always better to avoid the emergency contraception and try the barrier methods like condom or regular contraceptives to avoid pregnancy!

Very informative thread. Withdrawal is no longer effective, there are cases that uses withdrawals still end up pregnant. Contraceptives are the most effective so far.
