Default Uniforms

When I was in high school, wearing uniforms became a really big issue, and it made a lot of students mad. How did you feel about uniforms when you were in high school? Should students have to wear them? Do you feel the same way after high school? I've always hated uniforms, and I don't think I'll change my opinion on them.

I had to wear a uniform during all 10 years of schooling, and I hated it. It was not so much the fact that I disliked the uniform itself, I hated what it represented - being in school, and having no right to be yourself and do what you enjoy.

I like our uniform during HS except for the fact that they don't want it longer than 3 inches above the knee. They don't realize that it looks better if it will be longer than that. Also I hated our uniform in college which is a pencil cut style I can't move comfortably with that skirt.

When I think about it, our "uniforms" weren't really bad. We didn't have to buy anything official like a certain skirt or a certain blouse, but I still hated it. I don't know what I would have done if the school had tried to force me to wear a a skirt. (Maybe a little civil disobedience?) When I got into college, I felt so free wearing what I wanted.

It was a dress and later on a skirt in my case. We girls couldn't dream about wearing pants to school. As a skirt-hater, I couldn't wait to get out of school and get that thing off. I still won't wear skirts, escept of very rare occasions.

I also hate skirts it's really not comfortable to wear during school. Our school whether it's HS or college has a strict policy of no uniform no entry. >.<

The introduction of uniforms and eventually identification badges became a big deal at my school, and I thought that it was going to turn political. The argument was that uniforms were supposed to make you feel safer at school because you'd be able to readily identify someone who didn't belong at the school. Did wearing uniforms have that effect on your school?
