Do you think that wearing contacts all the time can actually make your eyes worse? I have been wearing contacts for about 1 yr now. I wear them almost every day~ love them much more than glasses. I think that my eyes are getting worse though. I tend to find myself stretching my arm out to read where when I had glasses, this wasn't an issue. Any thoughts?

When worn properly, I think contacts can be a healthy alternative to eyeglasses. So long as you take the time and effort to clean them, you'll be fine.

I know exactly what you mean. I wore contacts for a few years and I swear all it did was make my eyes worse. I'm sure it's not good to stick your finger in your eyes twice a day.. I bet it can cause a lot of problems. It's just not normal

I have been wearing contacts for 8 years now and the only time I have ever had a problem is when I wear them longer than you are meant to, as long as you care for them as directed you should not have a problem. I also find having long fingernails doesn't work for putting them in, can be quite painful if you poke yourself in the eye. My eyes were getting worse until a couple of years ago so I think you will find your eyes would still be getting worse even if you were wearing glasses.

I don't think that there are any documented facts of contact lens causing impairment of eyesight when used on continuous use. All though not wearing worn out contacts, touching the lens, improper storage are responsible most of the complaints. If not then you should probably visit your ophthalmologist for reviewing to find out whether there are other reasons behind your eyesight getting worse.

Contacts are made to replace reading glasses. I never heard of any infections or any damages caused by contacts. As long as you are wearing them correctly and as prescribe by your doctor, there's no harm with it.
