I have been thinking about getting laser eye surgery. When I called for the information, they told me that I have to go for a preexam to see if I qualify and the exam is $100. I wonder if anyone know why someone wouldn't qualify. Should I suck it up and pay the $100 or check around?

Well maybe they need to check it out first if you really need to have that surgery. The cost is too high for just a checkup though just find some other clinic.

| That seems a little strange to me, but then again, you would be paying them for their time. They'll probably be checking your eyes to see if they could handle the procedure, as well as how much needs to be done. I would research it some more, and don't be shy to ask a ton of questions. Maybe talking to someone who wouldn't be biased to tell you to go to one place vs another would be a good start?

I would check around first. I have always been under the impression that the first check/consultation was free of charge. |

Yeah here it's always free of charge during a first time checkup for an eye center. It really sounds weird to be charged that high for a first time checkup isn't it.

I think that's very unreasonable to be paying that much. I suggest you really check around first before doing so to avoid frauds. But, I'm having second thoughts if laser eye surgery is safe. Isn't it risky to the person undergoing such operation? |
