Default What does exercise mean to you?

There are some people who love exercise and some who don't, but when it comes to exercise what does it mean to you?
Is it a mission for you, hard work, something which you have to do, something enjoyable or anything else for you?

Exercise has a stigma to it I believe, people hear the word and think a big workout and lots of sweating' however I see it as doing something that benefits your health and things like walking, a few sit ups and maybe some light weights, it can be something like this and nothing to strenuous.

For me, exercise is a habit which we keep in doing to make our body physically fit. It is usually done 10-15 min in a day. Do you agree?

I exercise to keep my body in shape. At a certain age (I'm 58), you need to stretch your muscles, do some weight exercises, etc. so as not to allow your muscles to atrophy and in order to stay limber and strong. Otherwise, you'll end up losing mobility and stretchability. I must confess I don't do it as often as I should - twice a week, perhaps, for about an hour and a half each time - because I get lazy or too preoccupied with other things. However, I love the way I feel after I exercise and that's what keeps me doing it. If I put off exercising for too long a time, my body starts to complain.

If you mean it as a work you will get lazy one day and you wont do. I mean it a entertainment which i love to do it regularly, then you will enjoy and do it.

Exercise is a hobby for me. When you say a hobby, you won't get bored and get lazy after doing it several times. This is my hobby that makes me physically fit and healthy. You need to enjoy what you do so won't get tired of doing it.

In olden days there was no luxurious life. As the technology is developing man is becoming more comfortable and lazy. So one is lacking body excercise. For example we are used to sit on a chair now a days. In olden days there were no chairs so this way we lost one physical excercise. For switching of TV we use remote, some yaers before we used to walk a bit and switch off. So excercise is the thing from which man is running away.

I agree with Nimmi, exercise has become so removed from our everyday life! I don't think I have a sedentary lifestyle as I have to do a 45 minute walk to and from work every day and am on my feet for most of my office hours. I classify exercise as anything physical that I go out of my way to do just for the sake of using my body. Walking my dog isn't exercise, that's time spent caring for my pet. But jogging round the same park on my own is exercise as there's no other point to it.

I see exercise as a chore, I'm in the health field and it would be extremely hypocritical of me not to get my heart rate up a few times a week, doesn't mean I enjoy it though. Fact of the matter is we all need to have a certain level of fitness to enjoy long healthy lives and for those of us who don't see the joy in running around after a ball, we just have to suck it up and deal with it.

To me exercise is work. I have to find the time to do it, get the motivation to do it and then I am sore once I am done. I would rather just walk every night and think of it as a pleasure rather than exercise.

I exercise to keep me going with my daily errands to finished. It's a nice feeling to feel the sweat coming out on your pores. It gives me relief and a feeling of being fit.

Exercise can be hard work, but focusing on the positive is important to me. I always have a hard time getting started with any program, but I feel awesome after completing it. I also use it as a source of stress relief therapy. I work the stress and negative energy out during the activity. When I am done, I have only a positive feeling of accomplishment. Now over forty, I feel a greater urgency to improve my health overall.

I really have been trying lately to exercise, but I just can't get into it. I've found.. The more I tell myself I HAVE to..the less I actually do. Luckily, I have dogs so I'm forced to walk. I don't eat very healthy so I have no energy to exercise. Its tough though cuz all I crave is sweets

Thumbs up Hi

The very feeling of being healthy is great itself. For me exercise means healthy body and mind. It's my savings for my old age. It's a kind of health saving for future. When I see old people suffering from different health problems, i really get scared. I do exercise as i don't want to suffer from these kind of problems in my old age.
