Default Calories burned in walking

I want to start walking, because its a good way to keep fit and healthy. How many calories would I burn if I did brisk walking for an hour?

What do you define as brisk walking, I mean at what speed or pace should you be at to do brisk walking?

calories burned depends on many factors, your age, gender, height,
weight and how fast you are walking.

I would say 4-5 miles per hour would be a good pace for
excercise walking.

I am gussing mayne 100 calories per hour?

Actual calories burned vary with your individual body weight; the more you weigh, the more you burn. For example a person who weighs 105 to 115 lbs. will burn 2.4 calories for every minute s/he walks at the rate of 2 mph while someone walking at the same rate but weighing 180-200 lbs would burn off 3.6 calories per minute. If the same two people were to speed up their pace to 4mph, the lighter person would burn 4.5 calories per minute while the heavier person would burn 6.6 calories.

Walking is such a good form of exercise. It's good for the heart. I highly recommend walking as best exercise not only for teenagers but also for adults or senior citizens. If Walking becomes your regular exercise, it is a great help to reduce the risk of heart attack because this exercise helps our heart in pumping blood. That's why I always challenge my grandparents to walk 45 minutes every morning for a good start.

Brisk walking is nothing but a fast walking continuously for half-an-hour daily. If you have started you should go daily. Otherwise it wont be effective.

I agree with you - it is important to continue walking everyday since this is a milder form of exercise.

Calories burned will depends on how fast you are walking. Brisk walking is faster than the usual walk but slower than running. Brisk walking is a good exercise where you can increase your stamina.

Walking is the most easiest excercise that you can do. Instead of worrying how many calories you are going to burn, just make it a regular habit. Something is better than nothing.

Just remember there is a huge difference between walking slow and at a faster pace. My pulse clock has a built in calculator and confirms this.

My treadmill has a calorie counter as well, telling me how many calories I burn as I exercise, but I don't think it is very accurate, so I don't pay much attention to it. I just know that energetic (brisk) walking is almost just as good as running - only far more pleasant. I can't run, it just kills me, but I can walk for hours, no problem. If you walk on a regular basis, you will sure notice a difference.

I've also heard that walking is the best thing for you... its a total cardio workout and as long as you remember to keep your core engaged, you are working that too.

Walking is a very popular physical activity of all people. It is the simplest form of exercise.
You can do this anytime, anywhere without spending a dime.
It is recommended that an adult would walk briskly at least 30 minutes a day three to five times a week. Walking have also many benefits for our health.

I am noticing that my legs and thighs are developing more and more muscle tissue now and it just looks great. I don't look like an athlete or anything but that's not what I want anyway. Brisk walking in the long term really improves the body. That is a great motivation to keep going.

I think you don't have to think about the speed, walking is always the speed which you are able to walk easily without hurry, if its running then there may be different speeds, but i guess walking will be a good exercise but not as good has running.....
