Default Walking vs jogging

Is it true that walking is better for you than jogging? I want to get some exercise, so I have started to walk again. I go about 1 mile a day right now, but will slowly make it longer. Is the key to go longer or faster??

It's important to keep your heart rate up for lengths of time, how much time..I'm not sure

Try speedwalking

For starters, it is best to start walking (fast walk). It is not advisable for starters to jog because it may lead to a sprain ankle because f too much pressure while jogging.

I've also heard that's it's bad for your knees to run too much.

I try to walk everyday and jog at least once a week, but I can't do it religiously. That's why I get tired easily when I jog, so I will get back to walking.

Yes, most injuries are sprained ankle and stress on leg muscles.

You should try walking in fast pace, that will do and it will increase your stamina. Until such time you have enough stamina to run.

Yes, I do walk in a fast pace, I do that everyday, when I am walking from my office to my husband's office, my walk usually is about 10-15 mins. though there are other times that I walk longer that is part of my exercise.

It is important that your workout has intensity in order to gain aerobic benefit from the exercise. Simple walking does not not normally provide enough intensity for the average person. To add intensity to your walking routine try to find a route with some hills and walk up them very fast.

This afternoon we had a nice walk. We visited a place wherein you can walk and at the same time reflect. Just like Zara mentioned it has some hills, stairs that are rocky. We were perspiring a lot

OMG...If I were to start running/jogging I think I would get arrested for having two weapons of mass destruction, if I hadn't already suffered two black eyes, or knocked myself out!

No sports bra has been invented/created or assembled for my "two great danes" yet.....so it is walking only for me.

I'm not sure if walking is better for you than jogging or the other way around, but I do know that I would rather be walking than jogging. It's easier for me to pace myself, and I don't have to worry about getting tired.
